You need to enable it. Can't remember how I did it exactly, but the setting is in google assistant I believe.

OK google only works when the screen is on. If you were using it when the screen is off, it won't work.

If it is other cases, then no idea.

You have to manually enable the spyware first, make sure the power management doesn't kill the process, and grant the spyware all permissions it needs to listen to your microphone, read your personal data (contacts, messages, etc) and not to forget it will want to send all collected information to the botnet command and control server, so you have to enable connectivity as well.
