and I can put up with the EOL this year, although 700€ is a bit OTT, but will I get a wobbly space bar and glitchy PKB?
I want to stay with PKBs but price-quality makes us look like right mugs.

Since you're in Europe, there is a chance that those Black KEY2's are newer 2019 builds with the same improved spacebar as the red units.
I guess if whoever you're buying from has a good return policy you can give it a shot.
But man, 700€ is just too much to pay for a KEY2 right now.
I'd put maybe 550€ or so on a 2019 Black one, at the most.
If I was a betting guy I would say there is more good ones than bad. I still am in a constant argument with myself as to getting another one to take over when this one gives up. Blackberry KEY² that is. My keyboard and spacebar work perfectly. My keys show a lot of wear on the corners.

That's a good sign, high mileage with no issues [emoji1360]
After buying a Titan to replace my KEYone (working fine, but sooo slow and the battery life is terrible) and realizing it isn't nearly as good as the Passport was, I took the plunge and ordered a dual SIM Black KEY2 off eBay. Fingers crossed it has a secure spacebar. I paid $479 for a new unit.
Just hope it’s not Optiemus version unless that’s region you’re from
I'm in the US and it's being shipped from the US.
Some third party retailers have been selling the Optiemus version or “international” without good disclosure
I guess I'll find out. I'll update this thread later this week. Looking forward to having a phone that isn't crazy slow and the battery lasts!
When you get it, just check PRD# first before setting up. Good luck.
Will do. What sort of PRD# is common for Optimus?
Not sure if just one, but when you get it post it here and I’m sure that someone can answer then. Either way, everyone’s bored so I’m sure you’ll liven someone’s day....
When you get it, let us know what's the build date and how the spacebar feels.
You can find the assembly date for the unit in the MMI test / Traceability menu
1. Dial *#2886#
2. Press the MANU red button
3. Touch the "Traceability" menu
4. Hit PASS
You should get something like this, where the bottom line is a date of assembly:
20180729
YYYYMMDD
5. Hit PASS again
6. Scroll to the bottom and hit Exit
479€ is suspiciously low!! 699€ on EU store
$479USD is even more suspicious
if anyone was going to catch me out on a currency symbol, it 'd be you!!
yep, the plot thickens!
Just to be clear, I bought an "open box" unit on eBay, so not factory sealed new. That is likely why it was cheap.
Unfortunately, I’m still thinking Optiemus too, as part of mix. Hopefully I’m wrong.... the major flag is dual sim with price. Open box isn’t huge penalty
How much longer until suspense is over? Is someone making book on this one?
I haven't kept up on much key2 talk recently. What's up with the optiemus version? It it DOA? Just a wobbly spacebar?
Suspense should be over Friday or Saturday.
No updates and the emergency button for starters.
Good idea to save a whole bunch of money just by not buying a sealed unit.
I don't think the satisfaction of pulling the seal stickers off is worth all that extra money.
Besides, it's easier to get the seller to accept a return if it was already open anyways.
The phone arrives today, but I just realized he listed the prd number in the description! PRD-63828-019. Am I safe?
According to Conite's list, that is a Hong Kong variant and is still receiving updates. Good news is that its not Optimus
There is zero reason to buy an Optiemus Indian KEY2... unless you're in India
