This really annoyed me too, to the point where I was losing any interest in the phone. If you look at the other thread though, people mention that it's off by default, Flossy turned it on either by accident or on purpose.

In the keyboard Settings, you can select the option of the VKB always popping up

i agree w/ the disappearing nav buttons on the bottom for more screen.. i posted that in some other thread.
BTW, did you notice how he pressed the spacebar at 7:42 to go home?
