    Hello,

I recently bought a used Key2 on Amazon, which is optically in a very good condition.

But I soon noticed that the "volume up" button wouldn't work at all. The "volume down" button works fine.

I also noticed that the power button would not work sometimes. I watched this behaviour and after trial and error I found out, that the power button stops working whenever the phone locks itself, but when the phone locks itself again the power button will work again. It's like a switch. The weird thing is, that the simple press of the power button is not being recognized by the phone, but when I press the button twice, the camera opens normally, and when I hold the button for a long time, the phone turns off. That's why I think it might be a software issue.

and the third thing is that the convenience key dosn't work. I mapped it to the google assistant, but nothing happens when I press it.

Is anyone familiar with this behaviour or has any tips on what I could try? I don't want to return the phone for the price, that's why I ask here for help.

EDIT: I already tried resetting the phone via the settings

EDIT2: I just did a soft reset (by pressing and holding the virtual "restart" button) and the volume up keys are working again!! The only thing that is not working is the convenience key. it doesn't seem to be doing anything...

EDIT3: Seems like it was just a one time thing. after restarting, the buttons stopped working again and going into safe mode doesn't help anymore. weird.

Just return it. Something is not right internally and I doubt anything you do is going to fix it.

Welcome to CrackBerry!!!! Post early and post often.

Perhaps this explains the reason for the great price. Unfortunately, sounds like it needs to be sent back for refund. Good luck!!!

I have the latest patch installed, what version could I try? I heard that you cant downgrade the device..

Also does anyone know how I can make sure that this is a hardware issue and not a software issue?

I'd just download the latest autoloader and re-flash, as that will actually install a 'new' OS, instead of reinstalling the current (maybe corrupted) one (my theory anyway).

Or what do you say @conite?

    Worth a shot.

But this doesn't sound like a software issue.

But this doesn't sound like a software issue.

The Powerbutton starts working again after the device locks itself. That's why I think it's a software issue. For some reason the convenience Key works now (After a normal restart), but the volume up button still won't work, just like the power button. I did some googling and this guy https://forums.crackberry.com/blackb...-mode-1127348/ with his bb priv has the exact same issue as me.

Just like him I can't get into the bootloader. I'm holding down the power button AND the volume button (I tried both multiple times, up and down) but it just starts normally. Is there another way to get into the bootloader?

Edit: Ok I got into the bootloader via ADB. It keeps selecting the next item above it in the bootloader menu, which means that the volume up key is stuck...

From what I understand, it only needs to remain in the bootloader menu to flash the autoloader - no need to select anything.

Thank you, I flashed the autoloader succesfully. All of the buttons were working after flashing it, but soon after it started again. I guess it's a hardware issue... Gonna return the device today.
