Finally! Finally my Key2 is on the truck to be delivered today. Finally coming back to a Blackberry and the PKB after years away since the 8900.
Coming from the originally Galaxy and LG G4. So not even sure where to start when I turn it on. Whats the must haves to get on the phone? whats the have to change settings?
What did you first do when you turned on your phone?

Download and log into any apps I need or want, it's the most 'painful' part. Especially when you have two-factor authentication and such set up.

Go into Settings -> Scroll all the way down to About Phone, then tap on Build Number 8 times, it will tell you that you are now a developer. Then go back into Settings -> developer options -> Scroll down and lower the 3 animations from 1x to 0.5x

It's the transitions you see when moving between apps/screens. Just do it. You'll see what it is.

I set them up to OFF completely, very nice now (I did it for all phones)
    I did this: https://forums.crackberry.com/blackb...ience-1151533/
But it wouldn't update OTA so I did this as well https://forums.crackberry.com/blackb...bc432-1151855/

Turning them all off completely doesn't give you the green wheel when you plug in to the pc or charger though.

that is no problem for me, I rarely connect it to PC and can change from charging to storage in developers menu
the green line for battery charging status is still there after OFF'ing the animations

Don't you lose the keyboard shortcuts if you do that?

Press speed key then shortcut. Short/long press still works.

Does this means Developer Mode has to stay on? If I turn it off it reverts back to x1??

Disable all blackberry system apps, and install nova launcher prime and boxer. This will help avoid the inevitable slowdown of the phone. Hub is still so buggy.

If you use Nova Launcher, when you are on the homescreen, you will still have to press the speed key to get the shortcuts to work. Without Nova, on the homescreen, you do not have to press the speed key. I think, personally, that is a major convenience.

This is my standard new phone routine, with some special stuff for the Key2:

Remove or disable any bloat apps that I do not need, productivity tab for example

    Set all animations to 0.5

Disable pop up widgets, I do not use it and the three dots below app icons annoys me

Reduce the UI size to fit more stuff on the screen, the default Icons are massive

    Change camera mode to manual

Disable Physical Keyboard gestures, it just causes more frustration than it is worth

    Enable developer options

Turn off the stupid charging line that goes accross the side of the display
