After updating a few of the Google apps recently, including messages, I'm having trouble with Carrier Services. Last night the battery was down to 10%, when usually at that same time it's about 50%. The main culprit being Carrier services which drained 55% of the battery.

Today, same story, battery is already down to 74% when it should still be at 95, based on my usage.

Anyone else having this problem? Or know a solution?

I too have found my battery does not go as far as it did before the last update on my NA SE. Have looked at the power center and can't identify any battery hogs. Mine now does not make it through the day with heavy use or screen on time. Phone is mostly on WiFi so it should just trickle as before, yet, it drains much faster. Hopefully next update can address it.

What is carrier services on Android?
“Carrier Services enables the latest communication services from mobile carriers, including battery-optimizations and support for enhanced features in the Android Messages app.”.

Hmm, so if it's sucking down a battery, it must be processing heavy communication. Is it important communication though?

So much for "battery saving optimizations" if it's draining battery lol.

Pointless app and should be disabled.

Android phones will run just fine without it

It's only necessary if your carrier is using RCS.

Isn’t that something being developed by Google to give Android similar messenger features like iMessage has?

RCS is supposed to be an improved replacement for SMS/MMS type functionality like iMessage but it needs carriers to support the standard.

That’s unless you’re talking about something else...
