I’ve traveled all over the United States and have not been off of LTE once.
Then you haven’t been in the hills of TN.

Did you have to do anything special to get the phone to work on Verizon or is it as simple as dropping in a sim card? I live in New Mexico and I currently get mostly 4G LTE or at the least 3GLTE. I am a bus driver and the only place I have any problems is on the vast plains of New Mexico between Las Vegas, NM and Raton. out there no matter what phone I use I get 1X. I use a LG V30.

If I have a tmobile # AND Verizon, can I use the dual sim to get calls and texts on both? Not worried any other function as my tmobile will get the email and playstore. Can I get texts & emails on the Key2 fo both carriers with both cards inserted and used?

We still don't know if the K2 will work well or at all. In theory it can work LTE only but Verizon has to whitelist it.

By the way there is no such thing as 3G LTE, just 3G and 1X. And we know for sure that since the K2 lacks CDMA bands it will not get 3G or 1X. So where you currently get 3G or 1X in New Mexico, will have no signal with the Key2.

Thanks for your reply. Its hardly anywhere here where I get anything less than 4GLTE. So I preordered my today. when it gets here ill pop in my Verizon sim and see what happens. I can always switch to ATT as a last resort.

a dumb question perhaps but should one assume that multiple of the variants on the first page might be released in the US? right now I see only one model for sale at amzn/bb, the former branding it as att/tmo.

Most likely just the BBF100-2 model.

I doubt we'll see a CDMA or dual SIM version.

Agreed but that is not a dumb question. Right now, only plan on using on T-Mobile or AT&T major carriers. That being said, Sprint is not totally out of the question since there is some evidence supporting the intention for a sprint model. There was also evidence supporting a verizon specific KeyOne model and that never happened. Same situation with Motion CDMA. Long rambling but agreed with @conite

Blackberry Mobile's Instagram page said they weren't currently planning on releasing anything apart from an unlocked GSM model.

Interesting good to know. Wish they had the market leverage to accelerate the death of CDMA unfortunately they don't.

Sprint is Sprint, but all Verizon would need to do is whitelist the device and it would work fine.

The only reason CDMA still exists at this point seems to be for 2G/3G backwards compatibility. The official end of CDMA will be when those services are finally eliminated. For that matter, true GSM, also 2G/3G, is all but phased out by most carriers at this point as well...

In order words we are probably closer to a Global phone today than ever. These regional variants seem more related to differentiating between carriers for the purposes of controlling services, whitelisting, etc. I seriously doubt the various bands are not receivable by all models, and are probably only disabled at the OS level and / or by carrier firmware.
Except for the 3rd world like BE where at my house I barely get 3g by the skin of my few remaining teeth…

Pls, does anyone know what is the difference between PRD63825002 and PRD63825003?
Both are listed on TCL OTA site as Unlocked USA.
Confirmed, 002 is silver, 003 is black.
Interesting, those should have identical hardware (6GB/64GB), I don't see a reason why they should have two different updates branches.

Regarding the different BlackBerry KEY2 Variants, is there a way to check the actual model before purchasing? Is it printed anywhere on the box (pictures please) or do you have to go into the settings to check?

THanks conite! Does anyone happen to know the full model number I should be looking out for, for an 128gb dual Sim bbf100-6 in black or silver with full English QWERTY keyboard? Would it also visually show on the box if it has Russian/Arabic/Japanese characters on it?

It should say on the label something like "Regional EU QWERTZ" or "Regional EU QWERTY" or "Regional Middle East", all depending on where it was distributed. The PRD (PRD-63828-xxx for the BBF100-6), color, and capacity are also on the box.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but from what I can tell sniffing around configuration files for long enough:

    PRD-63828-017/030: Korea QWERTY
    PRD-63828-003/009/012: EU QWERTY
    PRD-63828-007: UK QWERTY
    PRD-63828-008: EU QWERTZ
    PRD-63828-022: Malaysia QWERTY
    PRD-63828-024/025: Asia Pacific QWERTY
    PRD-63828-031: India QWERTY
    PRD-63828-018/019: Hong Kong QWERTY
    PRD-63828-001/002/010/011: Middle East QWERTY
    PRD-63828-016: EU AZERTY
    PRD-63828-027/028: Singapore QWERTY

Am i right to say that the Middle East version either 001/010 is sure to have Arabic characters? if not, then 001/010 will come in both pure english or english/arabic and i'll have to look out for the "regional xxxx" ?

001/010 should have the extra Arabic keys painted. If you want a pristine QWERTY keyboard without regional issues your best bet is EU QWERTY it seems.

I don't have the KEY2 (yet.. Still waiting on my pre-order to ship) but I do have the dual SIM KEYone with the Arabic keyboard.

It's a BBB100-5, PRD-63736-006 and this is what the keyboard looks like:

Please report back how the VZW performance...or lack of it there is. I never jumped on the CDMA KeyOne train...and now that the "K2" has come out with some of the rough edges polished out, I'm stuck with a CDMA network. Bah!
