    Hey All,

Very long time reader, first post. I've just concluded a week long test with the Titan. It's OK but not a daily driver for me. I like the size, but the weight is a turn off and the BB keyboard is far better in my opinion.

I have a key2 but it's aging and with no k3 on the horizion I'm search for the red edition. I know that BBF100-2 is the North American edition (I'm on Rogers in Canada), but they're extremely hard to come by. I think I can get a BBF100-6 in the UK and use a mail forwarder to get it here, but I'm reading about different bands? From what I can see the -6 just seems to have more bands than the -2 for international use.

My question is, is there any reason NOT to get a -6? Will anything be missing or will it not work the same?

    Thx

    Int'l model is missing NA bands 14, 29, 30, 66.

Check your US carrier to see if that's a problem. I think only AT&T, Bell, and Telus would be affected.

You also want to make sure you don't end up with the BBF100-6 (PRD ending on 031) Indian variant:

If you want a Red KEY2, keep a lookout on eBay and Swappa, they do pop up occasionally.

They're not cheap though (don't pay more than ~$650 for one) but they have great resale value and are built the best.

You just... have to like the Red color, and this is why I sold mine.

I've only seen Red BBF100-2's for like $1,600! Which I just can't justify, Used doesn't seem appropriate for me either given that I have a K2 already. The 600 euros out of the UK for new in box seems appealing if it will work with Rogers

I have the red bbf100-6 and have no issues using it with Rogers (I'm in Toronto).

Isnt the BBF100-6 the Indian variant? Are you getting monthly security updates?

Only 1 of 50 BBF100-6 variants comes from India.

It’s not coincidence or luck usually. What’s happened for many is chasing a perceived great deal or low price comparatively speaking

There are 50 of just -6 variants?!?

How many do they need to make?

Why is it that OEM's like Google can make 1 or 2 variants of their Pixels worldwide but TCL needs to make a different one for just about every country lol

Colours, memory configs, number of SIMs, and keyboard layouts account for many.

After that, they need to be able to isolate phones in different regions in order to comply with local certification requirements. Some of the big OEMs don't need to worry about that, because they don't require local help in marketing

I would try to find one in the $600 range, no more than that.

Or, get an LE which will be cheaper

Ok, well the -031 was designed specifically for the Indian market, and was sold by Optiemus. They stopped supporting it over a year ago, so it hasn't received any updates since Dec 2018. It also has the triple-tap-on-convenience-key to call emergency services - a requirement under Indian law.

Otherwise it will still function ok in your country.
