Bad Batteries in K2?

Here we go again folks! So after the last update (and perhaps before but not really that noticeable) my K2 SE is not lasting as long as it did. I automatically chalked it up to an update, however, that may not be the case here. I installed the "Accubattery App" as suggested here. After testing 3 cycles, my findings are concerning. Battery Health Capacity on a 1 year old device is down to 82% (set at 3500)! How can this be? Defective batteries? I would urge all members with less duration than before on your K2 devices to install the same app (for consistency) and test battery! This way we can compare results quickly as our phones are almost out of warranty! Mine already is by a few days! Also, those not affected, could you please install app and report back here so that we can establish a Benchmark! I have included a screen shot of my battery health. Attachment 445429

Well folks, the app Auto detects our battery capacity at 3660, BBMo states 3500. Which is our correct battery size as that will skew our findings?

PS- even set at 3500 it is a crappy 82% Capacity after 1 year! What is going on?

You should wait a bit longer. It might go up a bit after more cycles. 90% after one year is considered normal. But if you bought it from Amazon you can send them a message as I got 2 other smartphones refunded for this. I bought new and by then prices had dropped!

Yes more cycles will hone it in, however won't change it much. Must be the new normal. My iPhone 6 was at 98% after 2 years and at the time I sold it for my K1.

A typical lithium ion battery loses between 12 and 24% per 500 cycles.

Ok, so what does that really mean? Most of us charge our phones once per day, so I have charged my K2 (never on boost charge) for 374 days approx, translated to 374 regular charge cycles. So, do you feel that is acceptable? And now that we have many more reports of poor battery performance here and other sites, again, how does that wash in your esteemed opinion?[emoji848]

PS- Since your unit is not affected, have you installed the app in order to help out your community as I asked of you in another thread in order to establish a benchmark? Just curious Mr. Ambassador!

Furthermore, I charged my iPhone6 2-3 times per day, therefore I charged it between 730 - 1,095 times in 2 years and battery health was at 98% when I sold it. What exactly has happened to Lithium batteries?

82% fits the profile for a one year old battery.

I feel like one year's worth of cycles should bring it down to about 90%, not 82%

Whaaat? My iPhone SE one year and half old has 92% battery and it was used almost daily.... And I can easily make 4 hrs screen with not less than 30 mins per day radio....

Battery capacity is a feature within IOS. So who says it is not manipulated by Apple as other things are... Suddenly it might drop...

Anyway. If you want your battery to last longer keep the charge between 40 and 80%. Never below 20% and avoid above 80% as more energy is needed in those cases with more heat generation and that causes more charge cycles so capacity will decrease faster.

Charge cycles is not one charge to 100% as explained in the accubattery app.

For example 20 to 98% is 0.77 cycle but 58 to 100% is actually more 0.9 cycle and 43 to 95% is only 0.59 cycle (lower then 58 to 100%!)

AccuBattery shows me 91% capacity. My Key2 dual sim is, round about, one year old.
But to be fair: I bought my device used from a reseller, 7 month ago.
Don't know how much it was used before.

OK guys 82% after a solid year of use is right at normal specs. Batteries have a life cycle some will be a little higher some lower, 82 is middle of the road.

While your rite its wrong. Battery capacity after a full year of use at 80% can be a little lower or higher is rite in the ball park. It also depends on what the software looks for, with Apple it is designed to only work with an Apple battery and designed to operate within the corporate spec sheet. I know this because a few years ago we had an issues with a few Apple phones on our corporate accounts. They fell back on the software stating the batteries are good but when the battery was removed and bench tested they failed. Hmmmm, people must remember the software only guesses within a certain parameter and even then its a best guess.
