- Sorry, just have to vent here. I'm sure that this type of thing happens with every product roll-out, and frankly, in the grand scale of things, it isn't that big a deal. Nonetheless, your requisite shipping day disaster.
I'd start by suggesting that, if they return into stock, I strongly urge everyone here to forget about Amazon for a Key2, or anything expensive whatsoever - or at least, consider my experience. And the poor forecasting on the part of Blackberry/TCL has made the situation worse.
Preface: I ordered on release day, with next day shipping. I live and work in Brooklyn, and packages getting stolen is an issue.
My status from order up until last night looked like this:
So, despite me opting for next day delivery, arrival was set for Monday 7/16. Not great, but I can live with that. I noticed that they were shipping via LaserShip, and I was concerned (LaserShip is very bad), but figured that I'd be there to get the shipment, no worries. I had set the shipping address to my work address just to be sure that I'd be available to receive it.
I was awoken this AM by a text message that the order had been delivered... today. An day early. My only day off. SURPRISE. Tracking showed that it had been left "at the front door".
Check phone. No phone calls. My biz front door calls me when the bell is activated, and so I can open the front door remotely. No call, not attempt to ring the bell. I already know that the package has been stolen at this point.
Why? This is what the "front door" looks like:
To say it's not a good neighborhood is an understatement. The castle looking building way in the background? A massive homeless shelter. Anything of value will be vanish in seconds.
I arrived a few minutes after getting the text. Package gone.
Remember, if someone had hit the doorbell, I could have buzzed them into a safe location. That never happened.
So much fail here:
- Paid for 1-day shipping, didn't get it (notice how order shipped out on the 12th)
- Amazon misinforms me about delivery date.
- Amazon doesn't insist on a signature for a cellphone.
- Lasership's driver is remarkably stupid.
I called Amazon. After three levels of CSR, best I could do was to get a full refund (but still no notification for that refund), and a $100 credit. My first order with Amazon was placed in 1998, but I guess that doesn't count for much. They could not explain why the order wasn't actually shipped out overnight, nor why it arrived a day early, or why the driver thought it a good idea to leave the order without ringing a bell, or why they didn't require a signature... rant rant rant...
Of course, the phone is out of stock for up to two months at Amazon, so placed a replacement order at Best Buy - they're claiming by 7/27, but I'm not keeping my hopes up.
FYI. This is becoming more trouble than it's worth, and I'm thinking of just going with a different brand. My Priv is on it's last legs, and I do not want to be caught out.
My $.02, your mileage may vary, etc. etc.07-15-18 02:33 PMLike 5 - Sorry to hear of your misfortune. And yeah I'd want to vent too no doubt, I would be livid to say the least if that had happened to me. Makes you wonder what some people / companies are thinking.skinnymike1 likes this.07-15-18 03:34 PMLike 1
- My business works for delivery but if it didn't (and I have had packages stolen from my home) I would use Amazon locker if you have one in your area. They put it in a locker and send you the code and then you can pick it up day or night at any time and it is secured. Just a thought.skinnymike1 likes this.07-15-18 05:32 PMLike 1

- It would be cool if BlackBerry could somehow automatically enter your BlackBerry ID info so that BlackBerry Protect could be running while your package/phone is in delivery. Not very practical if the phone isn't powered on I know but just thinking out loud here.
I'm sorry for your experience, I hope it all works out for you!

The link is kind of small and easily missed, and not always available, but I use it all the time when I can. When I click on the link it shows a map with all of the local postal facilities nearby. Even if I’m going to be home I hate waiting around all day for a delivery.A Noise Annoys likes this.07-16-18 08:41 AMLike 1
- Amazon is the absolute worst in delivery reliability. if you live in a city, they do not follow good standards and practices that are common to FedEx, ups, or usps. Amazon has screwed my deliveries up so many times that I'm looking to their competitors. If you want to buy electronics in the US, go with Best Buy. Price match, 2 day delivery, and a better rewards system even without paying for prime.ChairmanNow likes this.07-16-18 10:00 AMLike 1

Posted via CB1007-16-18 01:25 PMLike 0 - I've been using Amazon for about a decade and have been a Prime member for about 2 years but there are two things that have kept me as a member: 1) Return/Refund policy, I think their offer to you was quite fair TBH; 2) Delivery reliability: They've never lost a package and have only been late with one (despite the fact I ended up getting the package 2 days later than it should have been, they gave me a full refund and tacked on an extra month to my Prime membership).
I'm in Canada and the vast majority of deliveries in the last year have been shipped by Amazon themselves, perhaps that's the difference??07-16-18 01:56 PMLike 0 - My amazon order delivery date changed from July 18th to August 3rd-August 28th.
Unreal, Amazon get your stuff together! As i saw that i immediately went to Best Buy ordered it July 15th coming tomorrow July 17th. I highly suggest anyone having issues with Amazon to cancel it and order the KEY2 through Best Buy.07-16-18 03:28 PMLike 0 - My amazon order delivery date changed from July 18th to August 3rd-August 28th.

Surprise surprise, the phone shipped today, and I'm due to get it tomorrow. BB has really upped its game.skinnymike1 and Jake2826 like this.07-16-18 10:41 PMLike 2 -

But the story continues... Best Buy did it right, and put a phone in my hands this AM, before I left for work - literally as I was walking out the door.
Upon arriving at work, there was another surprise for me. Now, Lasership CLAIMED that they delivered it on Sunday:
But remarkably, it was actually delivered today, on the 17th. So now I have a refund from Amazon, and two phones.
I am going to, of course, return the Amazon phone (photo from my about-to-die Priv). But you'd better believe that I checked them both to see if one had a better space bar which the BB phone did, which is all for the better Figured that Jeff owed me at least that.skinnymike1 and megafan2000 like this.07-17-18 11:45 AMLike 2 - Heh, that would have actually been good. Nope, they shipped it to my work place, on a Sunday.

And WOW, the saga continues! So it's by miracle that the phone didn't get stolen away from your work or how did you receive it at work?
I'm also glad you are having integrity and returning the phone to Amazon. A lesser person would have done otherwise especially going through what you did. Kudos (and it was actually better this way so you could get a better space bar lol).07-17-18 11:54 AMLike 0 - Speculating, but I'd guess that Lasership never delivered it, at all, on Sunday, but marked it off that it was. Just another reason why, IMO, Lasership is the worst shipping entity in the world. Wasted my time, their time, Amazon's time, etc. etc.
And hey, keeping both would be stealing. Tempting, but just better to the right thing.07-17-18 12:00 PMLike 0 -
- You clearly do not live in Brooklyn, nor understand the realities of city life. Looks great if you're used to jumping in a car for everything.KitJackson67 likes this.07-17-18 01:25 PMLike 1
