Noooo just that we would not have gotten any of the benefits that came with the new nav system either way
The relevant benefit of an OS upgrade is longevity and security.

From what can be gathered, BlackBerry is being paid by TCL to add patches because of a grumpy Canadian carrier who was waving a contract around at TCL. So thank the carrier or the customer that made this happen.
Where is this information coming from?

Since these 3 updates are ONLY available in North America, were NOT originally planned by TCL, were hastily packaged on the cheap (patches simply bolted on ACQ160 from May), and have been certified on PTCRB (a requirement for Canadian carriers), the logic seems inescapable.

Who's name? TCL is responsible for this - BlackBerry only provides them with software when paid to do so.

In any event, there may be some hope. TCL has decided to open up the Nov KEY² LE to all, so maybe they will do the same here with the KEY² Dec patch. Here's hoping.
An employee directly from BlackBerry says otherwise....which obviously can't name. Is in a BBMe group. states clearly updates are from BlackBerry because BlackBerry is pushing them through. Maybe it's got to do with upcoming OM BlackBerry device.?

But nice seeing these updates even though some did say NO more updates were coming...now 2 patches later...what's next? LOL!

The employee is correct. Of course the updates are from BlackBerry (and distributed by TCL). TCL pays BlackBerry to provide them, as usual. That's the only mechanism that exists since the hardware will only accept packages signed by BlackBerry Limited.

And for the umpteenth time, TCL (not "some") said no more updates for the KEY² after May.

The notion that bolting security patches onto a May Oreo build (when paid by TCL to do so) has anything to do with OM though is nonsensical.

Too bad they didn't also provide the security patches for KeyOne variant owners also on the same 8.1 OS. That really would have been stellar.

Could that contract have had language for 3 years of security patching, like the Enterprise Program? Would that not take Key2 owners right up the to or @ the new 5G QWERTY Blackberry?
I keep thinking whatever remaining updates for the Key2 LE could be due to VZW like AT&T KEYone got extra updates too.

Certainly the machinations behind the curtain are different with respect to the LE, since its one and only fall patch is being pushed to multiple device variants around the world. I would think several agents were insisting on bringing the LE to 2 years.

    Not yet.

Last time it took a few days for the update to show on Rogers. I'm sure it will be here before the New Year.

Rogers just got added to the list moments ago.

Should be ready for the 29th if they keep to their posted schedule.

But the ACU282 autoloader was already posted last week, so the update can be done manually anytime you want.

Thanks conite... I'll wait for Rogers' target date as I have no idea, even though I've been a BlackBerry user since the 957 in 2000, as to how to update manually.

Interesting how their schedule magically updated to show BBK2 after my query on their community forum yesterday... I didn't even know about their community OS Schedule Webpage... TG 4 CB & all here in the know... X
