As a layman, I am wondering the following. Does BlackBerry have the technical chops and security know-how to bring PGP integration in the BlackBerry Hub?? Surely with their security and privacy DNA and their current role as software company this should be a goal. Are there enterprise users who would appreciate such a feature?

Hub on BB10 can actually use PGP (as of 10.3.2), although I've only gotten it to work with Exchange ActiveSync (so no consumer providers): https://help.blackberry.com/en/black...022272000.html

No news for that on Hub for Android, although since it's Android there's already a glut of PGP messaging apps like OpenKeychain+K9Mail.

Yes, I guess there are other options on Android out there, but wouldn't it really complete the Hub? I mean, we're talking BlackBerry, supposed specialists of cybersecurity right?

It does if you're on an Exchange email server (it leverages Exchange's handling of attachments) and, with the recent updates, it works quite well.

There is still some hassle factor related to certificate management (I've submitted suggestions to fix that, some of which would be very easy for BlackBerry to implement) but in terms of functionality it's there in the S/MIME world at this point. I use it on a daily basis.

That's good to hear. Never tried it, unfortunately not a lot of like-minded people who bother with this. That's a far bigger problem I guess.

May I ask you, which issues do you mean? I wasn't very happy with the way the certificates have to be imported (put both in one file), because, in my opinion, it diverts the common standard of "keeping both the public and private keys separated". I know that 99 % of PGP users know a bit, what they are doing, but still, I'd like to see the imporating process being able to feed both files separately.

I am very interested in your points, though, just to know.
