If make call direct from KB i.e. call icon - type number in directly. But the number showing up is different then typed. It's seem the number key is upside-down.

If I use ALT+number, that is normal and correct. I think that may a bug somewhere or I missed setting?

Can you provide more detail? Like, what do you type in, and what do you see? Can you provide a screenshot?

    Pic 1, when I type 1234567890 (wersdfyxc0) then I got strange numbers

Pic 2, when I type 1234567890 withholding ALt, So it's normal.

On older BlackBerry, I will get same numbers whatever hold ALt or not.

I got the same issue on BlackBerry Key2. Instead of z(7) AND x(8) it types 9. Instead of 9c it types 2 and so on...

That is a text search field and is supposed to accept any text typed there. That's how it supposed to work there. That is doing a contact search so it is working as expected. When you go to the phone app and want to dial numbers directly you need to hit the number pad in the bottom right corner.

Yes but what the OP is saying is that it should offer to dial the number he wanted by pressing those letters.

Instead of 123456789 it's telling him that he can call 937733920.

I highlighted this bug last month but seemed to get no response.

To be able to type the keypad in the search box in order to get the numerics has been a longstanding feature of the BlackBerry, it's a productive feature.

Please note that I am on phone app. Not on contact.
Calling number directly is features of every BlackBerry.(almost)

That. Is not the default in the phone application on the KEY2. When you go into the phone app it defaults to. A text search of your contacts. It even says search contacts across the top.

OK, so that is a bug for BlackBerry device. I should say.
On my Classic or 9900 that is apparently numbers and/or text. - if match with contact.

Shouldn't for BlackBerry device. In addition, it's handy function.
On other hand, if it not working with number then the "call+ number " shouldn't show up. So user will know they need ALT +

Look at the screenshot, there is a 'Call' option. Whilst it is originally a search box as you state, it also doubles up as a dialer too but it is broken/buggy.Making calls, and the number entered is different than the number key?-screenshot_20190320-011129.jpeg

Well it was like that since the beginning on Priv/Android.
That "Call" only apears cause you type the last 0 as it is same with or without ALT.

I'm with you with the weird number 9377339920 (which is btw. not upside down as it doubles numbers) and it would be quite easy for BlackBerry to recognise only wersdfyxc0 letters are used so also +ALT them and add it as another search request.

It's even more bizarre as typing 0wer (or 0zer for AZERTY phones) does find contacts in that telephone app having 0937 as telephone number, so there is definitely a huge bug in there.

Update: so I revert this being a bug it's just another feature called https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoneword like
    is 555 7463

That also why def is all "3" and wxy is all "9"

For my QWERTZ region those are irrelevant, but I guess some regions depend on it, but interesting "device search" uses the OP requested option to translate to numbers on those 9-letters.

btw works in device search (at least and older PRIV version) as OP intended, so also BlackBerrys android coders still know how to do that, just copy that 2-liner to call app - done.
OK you have to deal with qwertz/azerty pkbs so it's 20 lines - but it's copy/paste.

Well we Priv owner never will get it but that's a different story.

BlackBerry Key2 gives me the same issue. For instance Instead of z(7) AND x(8) it types 9. Instead of 9c it types 2, making app work with difficulty.
