    Hello,

I have been a long time reader but am a first time poster. I have been using a Blackberry phone for the past six years and have sadly had to move on because of the end of licensing with TCL and lack of Android upgrades.

On my BB Motion, I was able to integrate app notifications, SMS texts, phone, and emails through the Hub. A one-stop notification app. I now have a Pixel 3a. As I understand, "security features" in Android 10 may have limited notification sharing for use by apps such as Hub. Hub is now just a mail app. I am happy to keep using it because I am used to the look and feel but I would really like to find an app that can do what Hub used to do.

Am I missing a setting change? During the install, Hub claimed I can get app notifications within HUB but the setting option to add apps is missing.

What are other people using in place of HUB? I would like to find a way to either get Hub's functionality back or find a replacement.

    I appreciate any suggestions.

    Thanks

I have HUB on my Titan and it controls everything except messages. The paid version works fine, you do have to unlock all the features in the Android settings.

I was on the free 30 days for the hub but I just subscribed. After a reboot - just to make sure - the option to add notifications from other apps is still missing. In the app permissions, HUB Inbox and HUB+ Services have all the permissions requested. There is no option to add SMS, phone, or other apps under HUB. Under the Default app settings, there is no option to add HUB. If you know of a way to add settings I appreciate the input.

SMS and Phone get added automatically.

Maybe clear the cached data on both HUB+ Services and HUB+ Inbox and start over.

I have the same version. 2.1910.0.17462. I found a couple of forums that comment on an Android change in March 2019 that clamped down on access to SMS and call log permissions: support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/9047303?hl=en . Those changes have apparently removed SMS and phone access from HUB. I saw several complaints from users about these changes in this forum.

I was hoping someone would have a work around to these changes. Thanks

HUB works just fine on my BB Motion but not on my Pixel 3a. I have twice tried to reload HUB from Google Play and once tried the Cobalt edition. No luck. I also found a couple of forums that mention changes to Android 10 in March 2019 that limit app access to SMS and call logs - support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/9047303?hl=en . I suspect this is part of the problem (and I noticed other user's complaining about upgraded versions of HUB in this forum). Thanks.

As a further FYI, my BB Motion has the same version and works just fine. So, I suspect it is an issue with the Pixel or Android 10.

That might be true. Google limits 3rd party apps to access messages and call logs easily. There were so many reports on 3rd party apps who can sniff OTP 2FA code that mostly sent into messages. But in my samsung, the stock messages app still can be accessed by other 3rd party.

Or maybe you can try to change the default app, and set the hub inbox as the default app for messages, see if this works

The inbox is not an SMS app, so it doesn't show up as an option. I have an S9 with the Hub+ Suite. And in that spot, my only options are Textra (which I use), and Messages (which is Samsung's stock texting app).

Sadly, the option to change the default app is limited to the default messenger. I guess I could try to install another SMS app to see if there is different behavior. However, it seems from this forum forums.crackberry.com/blackberry-hub-plus-suite-f459/blackberry-hub-android-q-1165710/index3.html , that the SMS and call log changes are here to stay and BB does not appear eager to adapt their software to Google's new standards.

    Thanks for your input.

I just tried some messaging app like Textra, Facebook messenger, and google message. Textra and google message aren't supported by Hub Inbox, so any notifications from those apps won't appear in hub. But facebook messenger is supported by hub inbox. If you use messenger to be your default sms apps, sms that appears in messenger would appear too in hub inbox. This way you can use hub as sms inbox. But I don't recommend facebook product due to privacy and advertisement terms, since it would ask you to access your messages and contacts.

I use Textra, and the messages do show up in the Inbox, and clicking on the message brings up the "mini" message overlay where you can respond.

Of course, if you click on it again, it goes to the main app message list, but that's the limit imposed by Google.

I don't know why, but when I use textra in my phone (samsung, running one ui 2.0, android 10), Inbox doesn't recognize textra even after set it as default messaging apps. I personaly doesn't put my sms into inbox, since in this region there are so many spammers.

    That's weird. I'm on an S9, One UI 2 on Android 10.

Is "Text Messages" not one of the options when you go into "Manage Accounts" in the Inbox Settings?

No. In my A50 inbox could recognize samsung stock sms app. I just tell OP because his hub inbox can't recognize his stock sms app (due to his version of android 10 has limit 3rd party apps to access sms app easily)., I recommend him to use other sms app (as default app) that could be recognized by hub inbox. This way his hub inbox could access sms thourgh other 3rd party sms app.

Thanks for the feedback. The menu options to add apps to Hub+Inbox are not present on my phone. https://forums.crackberry.com/showth...1#post13518229 .

I wonder if this is a limitation imposed by Google on the Pixel 3a phone? Did your A50 come with Android 10 installed?

    Thanks

My S9 came with Oreo originally, and has since updated to Pie, the Android 10.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, BlackBerry did do something extra to get text messages to appear on Samsung phones. Maybe that's why it's not showing up on the Pixel.
