Optiemus Infracom is the company that released the Evolve and is has not "gone"

They have however not released any update since November 2018 and therefore it is unlikely any further update will be forthcoming.

Optiemus isn’t gone but the BBOptiemus division appears to be shuttered and the links broken

Link from Optiemus... really not sure where the "shuttered " "broken link" info is coming from?

If you are "fairly " certain then please provide some background to your assertions .

It's one thing to say that for all intense and purpose Optiemus and BlackBerry have come to some sort of impasse and that Optiemus has not released any new devices or updates ...this is factually correct...

But Optiemus is still operating and their website still claims to suggest that BlackBerry is one of the brands they are marketing ...

Fairly ...shuttered and broken do not provide a factual representation of the situation... one I am sure no one but the officials at both organisations actually do know....

The entire licensing program is essentially dead at this point. Sales WAY underperformed expectations, and all 3 licensees have lost money on the devices, which is why they don't want to pay their licensing fees to BB and why there aren't going to be any more devices or updates.

They are also providing support. At least hardware support. Also, IMHO if they break the deal and completely orphan all BB devices manufactured by Optiemus - both will be losers, not just Optiemus. Because next time with whoever BB ties up with will find it even harder to sell BB branded devices.

Thank you. I just tried the link and it worked for me. It is unfortunate enough that things don't seem to be going particularly well with the licensing agreements. Therefore, I appreciate you bringing accuracy to what was an inaccurate statement. Most of those reading it just would believe it at face value and move on. I like accuracy and clarity.

The reason I said the link is broke Is because the Facebook page for the company was broken.

    https://m.facebook.com/blackberryevolve/

The statement was accurate when I had visited last. Now it’s just pointed elsewhere. The link isn’t broken anymore. BB Optiemus now has it pointed to BlackBerry itself. Pretty sure it’s over. Maybe you should let BB Optiemus and BB know since accuracy is so important..

Do not buy the Evolve. BlackBerry is dead with respect to Android, Optimus and the firm ware is nothing great. Only useful app is probably the password keeper, which you can use even without a BlackBerry or a BlackBerry subscription. Actually that is true with all the apps of BlackBerry.

My only recent comparisons with BBAndroid are the PRIV, DTEK and the KEYone since I prefer carrier devices and the DTEK support theorem.

BBAndroid is better than regular Android only in that it’s actually integrated with the BB apps since they’re baked in from the start.

The best thing about BBAndroid is that it’s what BB10 should have been ecosystem wise. Had BBAndroid happened ASAP once Android was introduced, perhaps it would have made a difference since BB would have billions $$$ with a B of cash to have supported and built a better Android mousetrap from the perspective that BB could have been a larger partner when that was a thing back then.

With the Android/iOS dominance now, there’s basically two proprietary OEMs and one licensed OEM that rule the Android/iOS marketplace. Everyone from LG down is just one more OEM that uses Android mobile as part of electronics products offering. BlackBerry wouldn’t have a place now either.
