I have been using PRIV (Q10 before that) for past few years and now I need a new phone, I am aware of the fact that Evolve is no longer getting any update. I just love BlackBerry and cannot consider Key1 or 2 as I have to buy a laptop soon. Any advice from the BlackBerry Evolve users?

    It's a decent phone, but it's a year old and isn't very competitive price-wise.

You can always add the BlackBerry suite to any Android phone you choose to buy.

Thanks, I can deal with the phone even if it is old, Probably around next year I can buy a better device. All I need is a substitute for my PRIV as it hangs and heats up a lot.

The only two mobile brands I have ever used are Sony Ericsson and BlackBerry.. Since Sony Ericsson (Sony as of now) doesn't exist in Indian Market I consider BlackBerry as my favorite..

Well, as you know BlackBerry has been out of the handset business for several years.

The Evolve is an Optiemus product. They have simply licenced the name from BlackBerry.

Yes, I have read about that, but still it is a BlackBerry labeled product and for what it is worth, I have to give it a try.. (I am only concerned about the crashes in the software, does the only update solve the issue with it? )

I don't know - depends on the crash I guess.

You asked for opinions on whether you should buy an Evolve. I gave you mine.

have use Evolve since December 18. No issues thus far. in my opinion device is an upgrade on Motion. battery life same as Motion. Price has been lowered ...when I bought mine I paid 25000 rupees , last month bought 2 more at 15000 rupees.

if you accept no /very little customer support... no software updates likely then a great device with BlackBerry apps and security at a comparable price .

The price is now 13,000 on Amazon and Flipkart and I have placed an order. My phone will be delivered by next Monday. I have been running my PRIV without updates since 2017 and no service was available then. I wish to use an Evolve for about an year. After that I could use another BlackBerry device. (Or I hope)

I'm an evolve user and this is my first BlackBerry mobile. I bought it for 11925 INR in Amazon in June 2019. Everything with the mobile is good except regular updates as my phone is still using November update. The rear camera is useless and I have installed gcam apk and using it. Rest no issues at all. I checked with BlackBerry international Twitter handle about updated and they suggested me to check with India handle and BlackBerry India Twitter handle is not active from past few months and came to a decision that there might be no updates in future. If you are ok with these buy the mobile blindly.

So even the November update hasn't made any changes to the camera?

When I unboxed the mobile it got updated to November security patch and I read that after the update camera got improved. I cannot say because I don't know the clarity before the update. But I switched from MI A2 to BlackBerry Evolve where both are at same price range and camera is worst when compared to MI A2 Cam. So I have installed Google cam and using and happy with it.

Is Google cam easy to install just like any other APK?

Yes. BlackBerry Evolve is running on Android 8.1 and only one APk is working and it's just like download and install. That's it

Where? In the US? The phone is useless in North American - it doesn't support any of our LTE bands.

$200 shouldn't break the bank, and I'm sure it will be fun to play with!
