Just seen the teaser video of the to be launched Blackberry Evolve and Evolve x and it's super amazing with 2 vertical cameras at the back, fingerprint sensor also at the back. I think this will be a game changer for Blackberry with the available Key line up. What's your take?

My take is that the market is oversatured with slabs, and the Z30, Dteks and Motion proved just how few want to type on BlackBerry glass.

And besides, Evolve and X are only being launched in India, so I don't really see how this helps rebuild the brand.

Indian devices... have to see if they are even functional outside of India.

As far as game changer within India... have to see how they compare to products in that market. If the are competitive, that would be a game changer. If they are asking premium prices.... their just slab phones.

Will also have to see how Optiemus handles updates....

I use keyone and so far am loving the device, especially the pkb. Though I'm eagerly waiting to see what Evolve and Evolve X has to offer.

Looks like 2 devices in the video if you look closely. One actually looks like a touchscreen KEYone and the other is iphone-esque.

Too many phones out there to choose from the PKB device has its own niche which drives it's sales.

Evolve ranges might be game changer in context of VKB devices . Evolve success will largely depend upon carrier support more than the pricing as prices for Blackberry products is high .

Do people in India buy mostly from carriers? I had the feeling that wasn't the case....

Yes. Most people in India use pre pay plan. I think amazon is the exclusive seller of most new devices.

India is probably the worst market for a high price phone to spec ratio. Not sure what Optimus/BB is doing here. If there is going to a Leap type Android phone priced with a Snapdragon 450 that might work.

Optiemus was the sole decision maker as to what they thought they could sell into their own market, so I assume they did some research. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Even the cheapest Iphones with their insane brand can't get traction there due to spec/price chasing in India. Guess we'll see.

Evolve ranges will mostly be popular with professionals and corporate . You are correct people in India mostly buy from retailers . IMO if carrier tie ups is in place and with good finance option it will help in propelling the sales .
