I've been having an issue with my DTEK60 where apps with their own video player (Sportsnet, Rogers Anyplace TV, DAZN but not Netflix or Youtube) start playing a video, they go full screen and show no video (just audio) and display a black screen.

If I continue to tap things on the screen it makes sounds like it's responding to those touches but everything continues to display black until I can find the home button to exit the app. It's becoming incredibly frustrating. I tried restoring my phone today only to find I'm still having the issue.

I think it has something to do with HW codecs and drawing on the screen. When I go into developer settings and disable HW overlays under Hardware Accelerated Rendering, when I try to play videos in these apps, it doesn't black out my whole screen anymore but it still won't play the video.

Can someone who uses either the Sportsnet app or the Rogers Anyplace TV tell me if they experience the same issue?

Sure do. Their apps are just bad apps.

But Chief... they work fine on my Galaxy Tab S

I'll try writing them an error report or something.
