It's being discounted upto $70 even before release!
    That's a little disturbing tbh

Normal. $699 is the MSRP, resellers always set their own price and margins. Just like car dealers.

Resellers would only willing to set a price lower than the MSRP if it won't sell at that price
But also makes we wonder they must be having quite a good margin to give such a deep discount before launch
Ah I guess it's better to wait a little before speculating

Not really. Some of those sellers are dropshippers which routinely sell things under MSRP. These guys probably don't even know what this thing is, it's an automated feed from Ingram Micro, then they apply their margin logic to "set the price"

So, $499 CDN = $379 USD. Less $100 for BlackBerry hardening and apps = $279.

You think this hardware is only worth $279 USD? Be serious.
Well there are a few who also view it this way, but for me as long it is not out of the ballpark, I think I am okay. Blame the currency exchange rates... :P

I'd take the DTEK60 at $700 CDN than the Pixel XL 32gb at $1050. I'm comparing these 2 due to the same screen size. The 128gb version of XL is $1180 CDN. Also prices are not including tax. You can add an SD card to the DTEK60 for $30 or so. Just based on price alone of these 2 flag ships, the DTEK60 isn't overpriced IMHO. I'd take it over the XL and take my ~$500 difference and head to the rippers! Lol

I'm going to wait until 2/2017. We'll see by then if the dtek60 is out and if there's a discount. Plus we'll see if the mercury is out, too. Personally I would choose the mercury but if it is never released then dtek60 it will be!

I didn't think it was 17th, as some people think the dev summit was yesterday. It's actually in November.

    I'm thinking Halloween.
