Go into BBM settings, click on notifications and make sure it is set to on.

So I finally reached out to @BlackBerryHelp for help on this one...this is their response:

"Thank you for reaching out to us. I apologize, RGB notification is not available on the BlackBerry DTEK60 for BBM messages."

    WTF?

Nonsense. Works fine for BBM. Perhaps BB Support needs some new training!

They are right that its not RGB but they could have gone the extra step and assisted with your bbm led notification issue

If you can't set it through the main settings or the app and it still won't play nice, It might be worth re-installing; inconvenient yes but it doesn't take long to setup again. I'm assuming on BlackBerry android devices you can.

Yes...the notification light (LED) does not alert me when I receive a BBM message...which is frustrating as I have a ton of contacts on BBM. I am on the DTEK-60. Do you think uninstalling BBM and reinstalling may resolve the issue?

Not taking the extra step would be the typical attitude in any IT support department. It's also the same mentality that brought BB down. Propeller heads that can't see the bigger picture.

Yes on DTEK60. So you think a simple 'uninstall' and 'reinstall' might do it?

Oh, no, please ignore my comment, was just referring to the phone not having a RGB notification light, I don't really know what could fix the issue for you, sorry man, but good luck with it. If you find a solution, be sure to post it here in case others are having the same issue. :-)

I was seriously considering going to this phone. From my Z30. The no RGB may be one of the reasons I don't upgrade to this phone. Too Bad.

Check app-notifications, there is a switch for bbm to 'block all', maybe this was set mistakenly.

So contact BB support again then. Tell them 'my notification light is not blinking for bbm messages, but for all other events like emails etc. In bbm settings, notifications are on. In system settings, app notifications for bbm are not blocked. How to enable the notification light for bbm messages?'

In theory, this should anticipate all silly and smart questions they might ask, and answer them in advance, so they could get right to the issue, if they want. In theory...

Well, after lots and back and forth with BB, which involved sending them a 'bug report' their only solution was to do a factory reset. I realized that was an option from day one. Sigh.

It's really not that big of a deal, there are so many amazing things this phone does that the zed series couldn't. BlackBerry actually sold me on android as long as they stick stick with it.
