I figured that maybe some here would want to check it out. Since the Dtek60 has a Snapdragon 820, it might lead to some nice results.

I've used it on my G6 and it's great, but doesn't support the wide angle lens.

    Still, give it a try.

Minimum API is Nougat 7.1, though.

My G6 has 7.0 and it worked. Although it might be nougat and above only.

I've heard it doesn't work on the DTEK60, so it's probably 7.0 minimum. Works on my S8+.

Anyone want to try this out on the KEYone, which has that same Sony camera sensor as the Pixel?

Apparently it's not about the sensor, it's the SoC. No-go for Keyone.

Yeah, too bad TCL went cheap and didn't slap on at least an 820 in there. The Keyone could be taking photos as good as the Pixel.

It's the DSP that's the requirement (Hexagon 68x), so a Snapdragon 660 could in theory work with this, I think. But putting that in would delay it even further and add yet more markup.

That would have been a poor choice. Battery life is more important for most in this segment.

Snapdragon 835 battery efficiency is nearly as good as snapdragon 625 IMO. I have key one, one plus 5, and Xperia xy premium and all these are 8+ hours SOT devices for me.

Hell, I get 8 hours from the 821 in my G6, and that's a phone with "average" battery life.

And I get 9 hours of SOT from my KEYᵒⁿᵉ.

Going all the way to the best SoC on planet earth is a bit of an overshoot for a mid-priced phone.

I would also argue that it's not at the top of the priority list for the communication aficionado.

A 835 is overkill for a mid-range phone, but a 625 seems kind of old hat. I wonder what a 630-equipped KEYone would handle like.

Yeah, seems to only work on Nougat (7.0+) devices.

Sorry for the false alarm, i just sometimes forget that BlackBerry STILL hasn't upgraded any device to 7.0
