There have been updates regularly to the camera, but then again, there have been updates to all the apps!

Your pictures are great. I am still getting used to the camera.

Do you change any settings or make any adjustments when you are shooting? Or is it just a point and shoot?

For me, it seems as though I am getting a lot better pictures when using HDR than without.

    Thanks very much!

    Note:

1). Whether I am using my Canon G15, my Olympus PenLite, my BlackBerry Passport SE, BlackBerry PRIV, or my BlackBerry DTEK60 21 MP camera, I often take many shots of the same subject, and then I choose the one best shot. This is how most photographers find one good shot.

2). Some shots are cropped to provide a balanced image. Some shots have light and colour adjusted as well.

3). I shoot in HDR; it provides the best image.

I find the DTEK60 21MP takes great pictures!

The major drawback is that, like most cellphones, it cannot shoot in RAW format.

Cellphone pictures are therefore generally unusable for most formal journalistic and "serious" artistic purposes.

For those that have used the camera a lot, have you been using Auto mode, or have you been tweeking the settings in manual mode?

Priv looks better. Able to see more detail because it's not dark like the DTEK60. The problem is that the DTEK60 Is not letting enough light come into the lens.

Brighter isn't necessarily better. Accuracy is what counts. Because the Dteks are darker doesn't mean they are worse. The problem is camera exposures try to balance everything to 18% gray. By doing this somethings can get compromised, such as accurate exposure. I often will under expose an image to get a more accurate image. In the images provided, the Priv could be overexposed and the Dteks closer to true life.

As well, brightness is sometimes achieved by bumping up ISO resulting in lost image quality.

I agree with the comment: "the Priv could be overexposed and the Dteks closer to true life.". I have had the Passport SE, the PRIV and the DTEK60. The Passport SE with 12 MP camera takes great photos. The Priv 18MP camera with Schneider-Kreuznach lens takes great photos and has OIS, but the photos are a bit over saturated (i.e. colours are very vivid).

The Dtek60 has no OIS, but its 21MP camera takes wider shots and the colours appear more "natural" and true to life. Lack of OIS means that the DTEK60 takes pictures faster than the PRIV. Just be sure to set the Dtek60 camera to "HDR" and set the shutter to "focus before taking a shot" to compensate for lack of OIS. Note that the Dtek60 also has a vastly superior front facing 8MP "selfie" camera as well!
