Not sure...TCL made the phone. Cost Savings on their part maybe.
    Let's not be too harsh.

How many 21MP, PDAF f/2.0, dual tone flash cameras were out two years ago with HDR and 4K video?

Ok for real. I just had a faulty phone. I was on the phone with them for about 2 hours.

    Will likely order another.

Yea, you are right. that sensor was ahead of it's time back in 2014... I say for people who have the 60, just enjoy the phone. No need to become anxious over the camera unless it is defected. I am glad that people are excited about it and hopefully good sale numbers lead to more future BB branded phones.

    Peace.

Can you try low light with flash. Like in a family room in the evening. Dimmed lights. Similar to a photo at a restaurant.

    Two pictures.

One of the local tapwall at a place I frequent, the other with the selfie camera.

Both with flash OFF, available light. The bar environment is quite dim and a fairly rough place to get a decent shot. The selfie was outside, under the overhang, at night, with yellow "buglight" illumination (thus the color shift.) IMHO both are pretty damn good.

Cut down for resolution reasons as the originals won't upload (too big)

Does no one have a Dtek60 and a Priv?
    I do.

IMHO rear camera quality is comparable to the Priv.

The selfie camera blows the Priv out of the water (as expected.)

I agree that the Priv and DTEK60 really are comparable in image quality so far. Good, but not spectacular. The front facing camera is incredible though.

Need to see flash photos indoors. Mine had a software issue or something. It was using a high ISO level when shooting indoors with a flash

I avoid using flash whenever possible. There are times it CAN'T be avoided, obviously, but 90+% of the time I do not want the lighting pattern that any on-camera flash produces.

(This doesn't apply to OFF camera flash, which I use heavily when the dSLR comes out, but that obviously is impossible with a cellphone!)

I use the flash all the time. Dinner, nights our etc. Of course during the day in well lit area I would prefer no flash but that's always not possible. Family shots in the evening etc. I just want to see why my passport way out performed the dtel60 in situation where a flash was needed.

Toronto City Hall, eh? 😁 Photos look good.

Photos taken with the 18MP camera on my Priv are fantastic, but the 2MP camra is poor. Was curious about the DTEK60 cameras....

Flash (forced, but it's dim in here), inside, main camera.

Full image and a 100% crop of the detail. I see nothing here to argue over or be upset with.Pictures taken with the DTEK60-crop.jpgPictures taken with the DTEK60-crop2.jpg

As a photographer here's a friendly tip: try not using flash in lower light situations and utilise as much available light as possible to give a more natural effect. I've managed in many cases to use my Z30 to not have flash and get my subject(s) closer to the light source.

looks like dtek60 picture is not (yet) focused when shutter was triggered. Is it maybe possible to toggle between shutter and focus priority in the camera settings menu?
What were the shuttter speed and aperture number on both picures?
