How was the transition from a pkb to the Dtek virtual keyboard?
Posted via CB10 Passport
no I love it. stay this device.
BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition SQW-100-4
You're pretty forgiving. You've been complaining about your new device in multiple threads.
Have you never typed on glass before?
It's similar to typing on the Z30.
I did have a z30 yes, and it made me lose hope in smartphones. My Passport was enlightening and gave me future hope for typing again.

I honestly liked having a pkb much more than the virtual one on DTEK 60. I always struggle typing on it and have to just switch to a laptop to type anything longer than a few words.
I guess you have your answer then.
Ugg. So I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed for the Mercury to arrive. And I had the z10 not z30. Doh.

Yeah, I have high hopes for Mercury. The Priv was great but the sluggishness is unforgiving.
Cheers
Oh, that makes a difference. The larger keyboards in the Z30 and DTEK50/60 make it much nicer to type.
Ah that's interesting... so the dtek60 should actually offer an improved typing experience over the z10. The dtek60 will be my next phone if the Mercury falls through. I've mentally prepared myself for this android transition lol.

Going from the Passport to the DTEK60 and the physical keyboard (pkb) to a virtual keyboard (vkb) has its difficulties simply because the vkb is fairly inaccurate in comparison. Not a big fan of the vkb but also now a big fan of Android OS so I will not entertain the probability of going to the Mercury.
I've gone from a Z10 to a PP SE to a D50. I don't mind using either kind of keyboard, but I have noticed that the D50 seems to respond more positively than the Z10, and the keyboard swipes work better. I really like the D50 setting that provides a small vibration for every keyboard entry. The tactile feedback, especially in noisy conditions, makes it seem more like a physical keyboard and I type better.
Interesting. Thank you for all of your help so far guys

I had no problem moving from the passport to the dtek60. I can't seem to find the option of typing in three languages. Also, although I loved my passport, the narrow dtek60 is easier to hold. Only negative is the narrower screen. Can't have everything
i think in part it's a language barrier that doesn't allow him to express well in English what he means, both positive and negative... regarding OP, well, if you are a physical kb person then even when the Dtek virtual kb is very good, you will likely miss the hard keys... i have both the priv and the dtek60 (previously the passport as well) and no question the dtek is a better device... now, once I need to type long emails, TO ME the virtual keys aren't as accurate as the physical kb...
I agree. Much easier to hold indeed.

I have gone from a Z10, Z30, PP, PPSE to a Priv. All had there strengthens and weaknesses, but I find overall the Priv the best of all. Looking forward to the Dtek 60.
I've had a Z30 and a Passport, I've played with the DTEK50 at the store and must say that if I did go back to android, BlackBerry had the best virtual keyboard experience hands down. For now though it's Passport all the way till the way goes off the cliff ha ha....

Z10, Z30, Passporter SE, classic and now D60. Took a little getting used to but after several months I'm just as fast on vkb as PKB. Everyone is different with keyboard use so you'll have to decide for yourself if vkb again is for you...if not then yes mercury is possibly a good solution for you.
I had dtek50 and virtual keyboard was little cramped for me compared to z30. I may pick up dtek60 for wider keyboard.

Keyboard widths:
Z30 - 62mm
DTEK50 - 65mm
DTEK60 - 68mm
Wow. So z30 is more narrowed? I don't know why dtek50 was harder to type and i would make more mistakes compared to z30. Typing in z30 was always easier for me and I thought because it was wider keyboard.
Whoa, so significantly wider than a z10

Z30 is the best mobile phone I have ever had. Just saying
