I currently have a 64GB SanDisk Micro SD CC, This has a little U with a 1 inside it. I understand the fastest cards he have a U and a 3 and maybe a class 10 symbol.

My question is my current card fast enough or do I need to buy a new card?

What card model? It would be fine for removable at least.

If the camera in video mode allows 4k selection and works it's "fast enough." I bought a U3 card for future proofing and higher performance, and yes, it matters.

U1 is fine unless you plan on buying a gopro 4K camera or watching 4K video on your phone, then U3 is preferable. The read / write speed is the difference between u1 and u3

If you're using it as external mem (can swap it between phones, unencrpyted) it's probably fine. If you're gonna use it as adoptable (it encrypts the data, makes the phone think it's part of the internal memory 32GB internal + 64GB adopted external = 96GB "internal"), def not fine.

For adoptable, I went through two high end Lexar cards both were U3... the phone considered both too slow for adoptable. and it was right. ONLY the Samsung Pro+ was capable of the speeds that didn't F up the experience as adoptable.

I spent 2-3 days wiping, transferring data, and setting up the phone when I first got it to try to get it where i want it to be (32GB internal + 64GB adoptable external).
