I had a Pearl Flip. Liked the phone, didn't like the apps. Went to Android.

I have a MXPE with Marshmallow and so far, not too bad. but I'm getting sick and tired of Google sticking its nose where it isn't wanted.

I see BB has its own address book, calendar, etc - is that independent of Google?

I've disabled all social media - I don't use any on the phone. I don't want it. However, I do want my paid for apps - mostly astronomy, nature guides, weather apps. I use it as a reference library and PDA.The processor is fast enough but I'm not sure if there are any other requirements.

It does seem to have all the bands for TMO. I'd want to buy unlocked.

    Any of this possible?

I can help by saying they all come unlocked ( had my 100-1 shipped to Germany, not had a single problem). I also keep Google in the dark on my phone, but I am not an expert enough to say those apps are truly independent.

Sounds like you need a BlackBerry 10 device not the Dtek 60

If you want to remove Google from a phone your best bet is either to move to some other non-Google platform (which is really only iOS at this point) and lose the app library you've built up, or to get an Android phone that allows you to load flavors of Android with the Google stuff stripped out, like CyanogenMod or CopperheadOS. To that end, I'd recommend an older Nexus (5X/6P) over the DTEK60, since BlackBerry is on record as being against rooting/ROMs on their phones, and the openness of the Nexus line means you'll probably find something that fits your needs.

Of course, if you're willing to negotiate on stripping all of the Google goo out of it, you can try a BlackBerry Android device.
