Upon looking at the patents section of BlackBerry website I was surprised to see so many listed under Dtek50. Are they patents repeated to TCL design? Or is it software more?

A lot of them are general patents, which repeat in the Priv/other devices sections. For example, U.S. Patent 6,347,385 shows up everywhere, because it's a memory interleaving patent and not specifically tied to the DTEK50/Android/devices. Incidentally it's also a Nortel patent.

At this point I think BlackBerry is patenting everything... doesn't matter if they create it or not. But generally I would imagine it would be software related patents. It's pretty easy to file and get a patent.... tricky part is using it against someone or to defend your use of it.
