Wait, so we're now complaining about *accurate* press reporting?

I thought the article was fair, accurate, and useful publicity for BB phones. Just me, I guess?

Wow it mentions 400k units in last quarter ..(remember it was 500k the quarter before that and 600k the one before that)

So if the downward spiral continues it would be 300k next quarter
(mixture of Priv &Dtek and some blackberry passport, classic and leap stock to clear ?)

Surely not when you consider Governments , Indonesia , loyal fan base etc ..

Hopefully Dtek60 can get it back up a bit but makes you think the initial run would be around 100k dtek60 made ?

Quite scary when you think a Chinese startup up Oneplus founded in December 2013 (less than three years old) has sold 1million units in India alone this year meaning they will outsell Blackberry this year

The depressing 0.1% Bb10 market share (q2 2016) makes more sense to me now

As I say, the article was accurate. Those were indeed the sales numbers reported in the ER. And they include all those "other" channels - government, Indonesia, etc - and include *all* devices BB still have stock.

And you wonder why BB have announced they are getting out of hardware?

There's no mystery to the OnePlus success story - right-priced phones offering lots of bang for the buck in a price-sensitive market. How could they not sell big?

You would expect that every quarter phone sales decrease. However, when you release a new one, you expect to bump back up. The DTEK50 didn't have a full quarter to make an impact, but I would expect the next quarter to be up.

Next quarter is going to be 300K. After that, 200K, till it hit zero.
I highly doubt if DTEK60 could be sold for 50K units.
Making more handsets at this tiny volume margin is insane. DTEK 60 could be the last BlackBerry phone if not DTEK 50 was the last one!.

I doubt sales will ever actually reach zero as there will be some sales over the next few quarters due to people replacing broken devices and stockpiling BBOS and BB10 units, but BB surely can''t have much stock of those left. Sales will certainly approach zero, and BB must be coming to the point where the costs of maintaining that inventory are more than the likely return they'll get waiting for a sale to eventually happen. My guess is that Chen will finally write-off the last few thousand handsets.

There hasn't been any recent production of any phones except for the DTEK50 & 60 which, unless BB are deranged, will have been produced in such low numbers that I suspect they were made in a single production run, now completed. I agree with you. I doubt even 50k DTEK60's will ever be sold as I still don't understand who the DTEK60 is supposed to aimed at. Hopefully Chen has a better understanding of who will buy the DTEK60, and has determined that it's a huge population. We'll see.

DTEK60 is aimed at people like me and the many other people on this site who have said they are buying it too.

Outside of this site is much, much more important. At least said by people who aren't sour and only come back to bash BlackBerry because they bought a PlayBook.

We all certainly hope so. But the 11th and 17th of October came and went without any announcement --- though we know now of the planned delays. Hopefully tomorrow will be different.

Went to Best Buy on the weekend to take a look at the Pixel. Talked to one of the sales reps there and asked him if they would be carrying the DTEK60. He said he wasn't sure, but he personally was going to buy it from ShopBlackBerry.com. Said he much prefers BlackBerry phones. Well, that was great thing to hear and solidified my decision to go with the DTEK60 over the Pixel. SD card, BlackBerry software suite, 21MP camera and about $400 cheaper...it just needs to come with FM radio. Fingers crossed.
