- It sounds to me like the Canadian service center bites.
The US repair center was awesome. They had my phone in the building for less than 48 hours, they replaced the battery, and I can verify that it was in fact replaced as I am now able to document an approximate 3,000mah capacity -- which is exactly what it should be.11-17-17 09:16 AMLike 0 - Originally Posted by [email protected]Best Of Luck on the second time around, Black Berry should step up and do a recall on these defective Batteries. I've always been a Black Berry Loyalist but no more.. Now that BB has allowed me to learn Android Software im pursuing another Brand Android device. and in all honesty.. I'm Canadian.. I stuck with BB mostly because its a Canadian Company.. no More! Hardware is of poor Quality and the customer Service is Horrific. my Buddy preaches "Oneplus" products.. I'm leaning towards the New OnePlus 5T available on the Canadian Website Nov 24
I'm also considering the OnePlus 5T.11-17-17 11:38 AMLike 0 - It sounds to me like the Canadian service center bites.

- Thanks. I was thinking of calling them to return my phone. I'm having all of the problems described above... this battery simply can't last more than 4 hours on standby...11-17-17 09:56 PMLike 0
- You have to wipe it or they can't test it!
The reason is Google's reset protection -- they can forcibly reset it, but then they can't test it since they can't set it back up without your Google account password.
So yes, you must reset the device (from the menu, NOT from the bootloader!) so the reset protection is disabled before you send it in for service.11-18-17 05:13 AMLike 0 -

If you can't get joy from the warranty the batteries ARE available; it's the Idol 5s battery. Someone posted a repair receipt that showed the part number, and I found it -- they're quite-readily available.
The only trick to doing the job yourself (or for any decent phone repair joint) is getting the back off without breaking it, since it's glass.....11-19-17 07:50 AMLike 0 - Yeah, let's see what the shop will say regarding warranty. I bought it last January.
The last months I also experienced suddenly interrupted calls... bad LTE signal etc. etc.
Thanks for your advice, but I won't repair it on my own.
This is my last phone from Blackberry / TCL.11-19-17 08:25 AMLike 0 - Well I didn't do mine on my own -- BlackBerry honored their warranty and changed the battery. No hassle, no BeeEss, just fixed and back in my hands in under a week end-to-end (they had it for less than 2 business days.)
But if I was OUT of warranty, I would have fixed it myself since I now know that you can get the batteries and they cost about $30. That means an out-of-warranty repair is probably in the $60-75 range and I'm cheap enough to spend the hour doing it myself.11-19-17 09:55 AMLike 0 -

This is the big risk with something like the "Essential"; it's from a startup that's very thinly capitalized and has no "parts channel" at all. TCL at least had every reason to use an existing cell from something else that was fairly widely distributed (and they did in this case) so that the DTEK60 was very limited production doesn't terminally hose you when the battery requires replacement.11-19-17 01:42 PMLike 0 - Agreed ! They did the right thing by not changing much . Lucky we Dtek 60 owners who can still manage to get it repaired some how. If batteries could be stored for years, I would have ordered 1-2 just in case ..lol11-20-17 12:55 AMLike 0

I'm getting under an hour of screen on time, and BlackBerry is sending me daily update emails stating that they still haven't been able to source me a replacement device.
On another note, in the GSAM App, I'm noticing a kernel issue keeping the CPU active and wake locking. A simple google search reveals nexus and Galaxy owners had the same issue as well stating in June that was resolved in updates. Wondering if this is a contributing factor to our issue with a poorly coded update that set this off for us DTEK60 owners.11-20-17 01:59 AMLike 0 - Here's the data from the log... if Kevin or Blaze can pass this on to someone for further investigation it might be helpful to us.

com.qualcomm.timeservice11-20-17 02:07 AMLike 0 - The shop I bought it from sent mine to a repair station.
(Here in Germany) They told me it will take 10...15 working days at least.
They might return it after 2 months. Hahahahaha ?!?!?!
This is not what I was expecting when buying a flagship device.
The first 7 months were fine, but now it has changed to the worst experience I ever had with a phone.
After returning I will just check whether it works and try to sell it.
I finally switched to a true flagship device and it just works. Wow!
Will Blackberry ever return to "it just works"? Good luck to you guys.11-22-17 11:54 AMLike 0 - The shop I bought it from sent mine to a repair station.

For me as well: "....the first 7 months were fine, but now it has changed to the worst experience I ever had with a phone."
Your comment reflect my experience with the DTEK60.
I used to be the biggest BlackBerry fan. I have had the Torch2 9810, the Z30, the Passport SE, and the Priv. All were great innovative devices.
The DTEK60 ("Disaster60") has made me decide to move on to other brands of devices.11-22-17 06:01 PMLike 0 - Ok, so mine came back today with a replaced battery and "software updates". I don't know which updates,
because I already downloaded the latest one before sending in.
A few moments ago it downloaded the security patch from 6th November 2017 AAQ934.
It also seems quite fast right now - without any personal data on it. Even faster compared to a previous factory reset.11-28-17 11:24 AMLike 0 - They always, it appears, flash to the most-current firmware. Check DTEK before you load anything, you may need to hard reset (I did as their test "stuff" left it with a "compromised" rating....)
Thus you will always see "software updates" since they hit it with an autoloader as part of their examination and service.11-28-17 11:51 AMLike 0 - Ok, so mine came back today with a replaced battery and "software updates". I don't know which updates,

I get daily update emails every morning since the 16th apologizing for the delay and (using the words BlackBerry made their motto) will be provided more information "soon".
