I actually wonder if BlackBerry cares about the sales figures at all?
They probably do care, in that every DTEK50/60 that's sold will offset the costs of production... but I doubt they care that much in that their decision to quit making hardware has already been made.

I'm sure cgk is right and they've ordered the very minimum number of DTEK60's from TCL that TCL would allow. I've previously guessed at 50k as the production run, which might be completely wrong, but BB won't have been foolish enough to have ordered x00,000 of these. They've seen how the DTEK50 sold, have reacted by cancelling plans to put the Mercury into production, and I'm sure have few expectations for likely DTEK60 sales.

So, sales of the DTEK60 don't matter to BB except to allow them to recoup a few dollars.

With some level of marketing, I will say maybe, about 800,000 this quarter. Might be more if BlackBerry and TCL market more aggressively and try to get carriers to support and sell the phones on contract as most people still buy on contract in the USA and Canada.
Marketing consists of word-of-mouth posts on the CB forums, a BB webcast, and some tweets.

TCL already have their money - it was a straight-forward production contract, nothing more. BB and TCL are not "partners". TCL won't spend a dime marketing BB's phone for them.

I've yet to hear of any carrier stocking or supporting the DTEK60.

Think I am right about Google download figures but I may be wrong

    The figure breaks are

    10,000 then 50,000 then 100,000

    Huge jump to 500,000

So ,once you pass 100,000 we don't know figure until after 500,000

Which means those 100,000 figures could actually be 450,000 but we don't see it until it passes 500k

    Am I right ?

    Cheers

You need to talk about BlackBerry only apps that are available for BlackBerry phones only, like the BlackBerry Keyboard and Camera.
The total number of downloads are from 100.000 to 500.000
This is where the sales number lies of all BlackBerry Android phones ( PRIV, DTEK50, DTEK60)

Blackberry just kind of threw the DTEK60 out there. No big digital announcement or anything. Basically they just posted it on their social media platforms, i.e. tweets, and of course the big tech sites and bloggers posted articles about it, but that was basically it. So I'm not too sure about the success of the DTEK60 outside of the techosphere.

Pre installed apps aren't counted in on Google play. Even if they are updated from there it doesn't count as an install.

Can anyone point to a single bit of marketing for this device that would cost more than $50 (excluding salary and on-costs)?

    Or even $25?

    No I can't........

    Just did a little test

Took my family out for a meal , wife and 4 kids
    Well...not really kids

Daughter age 25 ... phone Sony z3 mini

Son 24 ...phone Sony z5 standard

    Son 20.... iphone6 plus

    Son 16.... Sony premium z5

Covered badge and asked them for there thoughts

All thought it was a new Samsung, ( mainly because how good screen was ) loved the feel and how thin the phone was .
Only negative was , one who didn't like how camera lenses stuck out .

All very surprised to find it was a Blackberry..as they all did not like either passport or Priv. Calling them "

    Dads rubbish Blackberry

So ...small sample I know but at least these young people like the look and feel of dtek60....

If only it was in stores for young people to see ....

Slight correction: loads of DTEK50's were made by TCL, but only 7,000 were sold by BB.

Which apparently caused BB to try and cancel the D60 production, but TCL wouldn't play and insisted on making no fewer than 20k DTEK60's.

I thought you could load the Hub on non-BB Android phones, which would explain the numbers wouldn't it?

As for the rest being under 500k, that's entirely consistent with the sales figures released in the ER.
I have the hub on a moto so yes there are some of those baked in to the numbers

Look at the blackberry keyboard downloads then,

It's a simple way of just going to blackberry apps not on 3rd party support and comparing,

Any way - I will still with what iv said.

    Won't sell more than 250 k,

    Dtek50 won't sell more than 150k,

Priv sold okay at about 100 k units.

    That's the blackberry Sales currently.

Those are the most realistic numbers as blackberry in general sell 500 k devices or less..

Well, considering that they basically sell purely from word-of-mouth you can't really expect more unfortunately...

I think the whole point of putting the HUB on other android phones is a much larger picture than just revenue.
The more people download the HUB, I think the more BlackBerry can probably push developers to modify their apps a little to play better with the HUB. Ofcourse this is pure speculation on my part but I think this is the bigger picture. Because the better the integration with the apps, more people will use it which could make the HUB the WhatsApp of social accounts management. That will obviously give them some crazy kind of revenue.

    Z30STA100-2/10.3.2.2876
Not speculation.....very true. The more popular it gets, the more the developers who'd wanna plug their apps into it. And seeing that it's a great feature to work from without always needing the app, I hope it achieves it's true potential.

I'm yet to see any too....noone wants to do a proper review, cos for once they may be forced to admit that it's a very decent device. With past BlackBerry launches, we had reviews as early as the next day telling how bad the phones were..... I've seen few reviews here and there where they're desperately trying to say something bad as always. I honestly don't think the device is as good as some flagships but it's a very decent alternative considering its price and offerings, still I don't expect the big names to come out and say it's a device they'd recommend. I expect more of their bad mouthing.

With all the Android offerings, BlackBerry is not even mentioned in this site. Is this a deliberate attempt to discredit BlackBerry? The last time this site had a good review with BlackBerry was with the Passport.
