You don't just build hundreds of thousands of units and buy tens of millions in ads.
Ah, so what you're saying to BB is: Don't repeat what you did with the Z10?

Chen's year ends in February... they'll have to get a move on to sell 250k before then.

I yesterday made my statistics and counted the number of DTEK60 that BlackBerry sold since the launch date (October /25th) in Shopblackberry website in USA, Canada , UK, Germany, France, Netherlands, Spain, and Italy.
I was watching the inventories of these regions since then.
The number of sold units were 1889.
This is the total of ten days selling.

Sales will be all corporate issues and CrackBerry folks.

I'd be shocked if they sell more than 100,000 before Christmas.

So 236ish units per country (yes I know it's not going to be that equal) or 19 a day - that seems to be similar to what I worked out for just the UK store.

839 units came from the US only, which is the strongest market, followed by Canada, UK, and Germany.

The number of phones in UK inventory from the launch hour was 636... It was 496 until yesterday (140 units sold in 10 days).
I can't track the number change if it is over 999 units. The difference does not show up at this point.

It seems that BlackBerry just filled the inventory this morning.

I'd need to dig out my spreadsheet but I tracked it for the Priv and off the top of my head this is slower.

Yes, this is very slow and getting slower. Most importantly, Shopblackberry is currently the only available distribution channel. On the other hand , the PRIV enjoyed a way wider distribution than DTEK60.

The question is the same here, folks are acting like every other OEM is releasing phone with Android. Contrary to their reality most new devices are running Android 6.x, N I not a household name as yet. As I understand BlackBerry is working with Android engineers to bring it to the DTEK and Priv line. Remember Blackberrys take on Android is a hardened kernel, and root of trust etc. It will take a few weeks or so before Android N is realized on the current BlackBerry line up.

It's hard to say, but I hope that the Android ecosystem will make it very appealing to the general public.

I think that BlackBerry has make a statement by producing a flagship. That would generate some noise around the brand.

You hit the nail on the head. BlackBerry needs to send out test devices to people like Marques Brownlee, Unbox Therapy, Jerry Rig everything, Erica Griffin, Flossy Carter, etc etc.. That would probably be the best free advertising BlackBerry can get on the web. The Dtek 60 has awesome specs, great form factor, somewhat stylish and certainly a great flagship. Combined, these techie reviewers have over 10 million subscribers on YouTube. BlackBerry needs to step it up.

Those people won't review BlackBerry for no reason other than they're ***clwons really.

Not all of them but mkbhd for sure and flossy still rocks his 9900 and that's the extent of his BlackBerry love.

The opo phones had really poor support, hardware and software issues, and obviously don't provide the same frequency of updates.

Had it been another Chinese company releasing the dtek60 with the monthly updates and the software features of the BlackBerry launcher and suite - this would be phone of the year.

Just watch how moronic they become over the Idol 4s - basically the same phone but inferior specs to the dtek60. All the media keeps mentioning in general, is the dtek60 is another idol 4s when it's not even close.

They get excited over what I consider to be pretty bland and non useful phones, simply because they have nothing else to review at this point.

So when you get some new Chinese phone that's cheap paired with good specs - that's the "innovation" for them.

Just look at the MI Mix - essentially nothing useful, but wow, it has a 6.4 inch screen and no bezels...

Anyway, don't expect anyone to give the dtek60 any attention - because it's a BlackBerry.

In Switzerland many retailers already have it in stock. Some had to restock, so it seems to sell quite good (i think for low volume segment)

BlackBerry being BlackBerry, ie, having made the media and potential customers alike confused as to whether they are still in the handset market and them not having the slightest idea what advertising and marketing are, will not sell many devices. I would be surprised if they sell more than 150 000.

Well.. every time someone like John or I tracks these numbers we are told we are idiots or its inaccurate and that phone X is a great seller... then the earnings call comes around and they announce another bomb.

So I'll just say that *relative* to the other phones I've tracked this way - it's very very slow and as John says getting slower.

If the priv sold over a 100 k.

There has been better hype and a better price.

250 k is sure the reasonable number.
