$649-699 $599-649 might actually be a reasonable ask this time round for the specs. Consider the Moto Z: https://www.amazon.com/Moto-Lunar-Gr...UvbUpU12600529.

Modules thingy aside, same SD820, 4GB RAM and 64GB and the camera might actually be better on the DTEK60. Plus they have some breathing room since Nexus (now Pixel) is moving upmarket. Only thing missing is 32GB of storage, but it has a headphone jack.

However, here's the big BUT in capital letters: from a market share penetration standpoint, they actually need to price this aggressively between the Chinese brands and HTC/Motorola/LG. $499-549 would make it a splash. Whether this forum like it or not, the brand BlackBerry still leaves a sour taste in some people's mouths.

And to those who keep comparing the OEM TCL 950: It's irrelevant this time. Unlike the DTEK50, its TCL/Alcatel counterpart isn't sold in the same market. It's not like the DTEK50 is sitting right next to the Idol 4 on the shelf and looks exactly the same. At this point there is no indication that Idol 4 Pro, the other often compared counterpart, even runs Android or will be sold in the same markets.

The TCL950 is priced at $399. BlackBerry need to add their stuff to it for about $100. No way this will be $400. Impossible.

Absolute best case scenario is $449, but $499 more likely.

If you or a business is on a budget, get the DTEK50 for $299.
    TCL 950 has a 1080p screen, DTEK60 1440p.

Last I checked neither Samsung, LG or AUOptronics upgrades people's screens for free.

That doesn't seem to be the case with the DTEK50, which was only $100 more than the base reference design.

    I'm thinking $475-$499.

Except that Geekbench has the Idol 4 Pro.... and not with Windows, but with Nougat. Not sure how many MM phones you will see released at this point.... other than BlackBerry.

And yes very few will see these anywhere side-by-side... in fact I doubt the average western consumer see much of either phone. TCL or Alcatel isn't a brand that is recognized by consumers in the US, Canada... I have wondered why US Carrier's haven't embraced some of these lower cost Chinese brands.. Huawei, Xiaomi, OnePlus and especially Lenovo are brands that I think many have heard of at this point. TCL.... not so much. But Verizon is sticking with the Motorola, HTC and LG low end phones that really aren't in the same category....

My guess on the DTEK60..... $500 - $549 at launch for consumers.

    550-600 dollars.

There is no alcatel or tcl with the EXACT same specs as the dtek60.

    I've checked, not the 4, 4s, 4 pro, 950, whatever.

The dtek 60 has better specs comparatively to its kin (tcl and alcatel)

And blackberry fast updates, security, and all the software extras.

There is value there for those who understand it.

4S, 4 Pro, and TCL950 have interchangeable parts.

DTEK60 is the TCL950, with the 4S screen.

Put it this way. It has the highest specification of all its similar variants and will therefore be more expensive.

Sure it uses the same housing, but certain parts for example blackberry's hardware injected cryptographic keys, is, unique.

    http://venturebeat.com/2015/11/06/bl...y-android-now/

Also the internal blackberry camera team (shout out to SMVC) tweaks the camera software very well I must say. I hope that the 60 comes with OIS.

Was and still am not a fan of the BlackBerry Android iteration, but you gotta give it to this device...the specs are quite sweet on this bad boy. I hope they keep it around the $500 dollar mark...well if not there is always the DTEK50...

    I think it's going to be $499. They'll have a mid-range offering for $299 in the Dtek50 and a high-end offering for $499 with the 60.

They've got to start trying to carve into that unlocked, flagship spec/quality market and compete with the likes of ZTE and OnePlus who have similar spec'd offerings sub $450. That's the slice of the pie I think they're going after. Anything over $499 would be a tough sell.

If it's under $500, I guess I would...but looking at those specs...I don't know...I rather think it will be on the higher end side...look at the Priv...

I will have to move from my BlackBerry Leap at some point in the near future, but if the 60 comes in at $700+ (conversion taken into account), then I'd have to go for the DTEK50 or a Windows phone...

I think the lesson learned with the Priv was that an entry price over $650 is too high for what they were offering. That's not the market I think they're going for. Let Apple and Samsung charge $650 for their devices, which some will argue are worth that price point. The Priv unfortunately wasn't that caliber of phone.

I also think the main reason for them using an already manufactured reference device like the TCL950 is specifically so they can keep the manufacturing costs low and the price reasonable.

So you think it stands some chance at coming around $499 (US)? The lower the better...since I'm buying my phones unlocked directly from BlackBerry...but those specs...

    But those specs...
That's true, they're flagship level. However, look at the specs of the ZTE Axon 7. Very similar and priced at $399.

    https://www.amazon.com/ZTE-Axon-unlo...UvbUpU12603958

So I don't think it's all that unreasonable to see this phone possibly priced around $499. That being said, it's my opinion at the moment.

There is a lot of buzz right now in the unlocked, low cost, high-end spec'd market. You have OnePlus, ZTE, Huawei, etc, releasing flagship spec'd devices at mid-range phone prices. They're getting great reviews by respected sites and reviewers and people seem to be buying them. If I was BB, that's the market I would try to compete with.
