Both need a reduction in price IMO to seriously get some traction.

In Canada the Pixel XL 32 GB is $350 more than the DTEK60. I don't think it's worth the price premium. Google is charging iPhone prices, absolutely ridiculous.

But you can talk to it using Google Assistant ... It comes in blue ... Verizon carries it ... you can video chat ... And it comes in blue.

Spare me. Major overpriced disappointment if you ask me. Should have stuck to the "Nexus" model.

The Pixel will ship in 2 weeks or so with Android 7.1. Only 1 other phone will ship concurrently with Android 7.0 and from this point on Google will be steps in front of every other manufacturer including the majors. I haven't even seen specific dates when the Nexus phones will have 7.1.

It will be interesting to see if it takes BlackBerry as long to update the Dtek phones as it did the Priv to go from Lollipop to Marshmallow and how quickly, if ever, they get 7.1

Maybe the DTEK60 pricing isn't as bad as most originally thought. Especially with the outrageous Pixel pricing, which is an HTC made phone. Doesn't warrant a $900 + tax and $1050 +tax CDN for the Pixel and Pixel XL. Ridiculous.

Well the Pixel looks like its going to be a very expensive unlocked phone. Starts at $649 for just the regular pixel. They didn't even discuss the Pixel XL price when announcing, that could be easily upward of $750 - $850. No thanks, I'll take a Dtek60 any day.
Best Buy here in Canada are advertising a pre-order price of $549 for the Pixel XL, on a two-year contract with one of the major carriers (i.e. Bell or Rogers). Whether that price will hold after the pre-order campaign ends remains to be seen.

It would come down to price and battery life for me.

That said, I love the curved screens so I would go S7 Edge. ;-)

Not to rain on your parade, but I just can't see Samsung being interested in BlackBerry's software - beyond the SecuSmart tablet, and BES12 / Knox cooperation... However, I'd love to see them license the BlackBerry touch capacitive PKB and do a limited trial run of the device and see if there is sufficient interest. The fact that they released that ridiculous snap on 'pkb' last year or so makes me wonder if this is a possibility. Samsung is a hardware company and if anyone can make it well spec'd and cheap(er), it's Samsung.

However, if BlackBerry continues to build out their software portfolio on GPlay, you may be able to add all that on a subscription. You can already get most of the package already.

Camera looks nice with all the under the hood software / hardware touches... And the unlimited storage is an obvious value add... Otherwise I was somewhat underwhelmed. I think they are trying to muscle in on Apple's territory not just with the physical look but also for the higher margins. Imho.
