The DTEK60 21MP camera shoots a wide shot by default, even in 4:3. It shoots wider than my PRIV 18MP camera, which was excellent.

Well, there were many updates to the already good BlackBerry PRIV 18MP camera, so I expect there may be updates to the DTEK60 21 MP camera as well.

Awesome! Nice, vibrant color. How good is the color reproduction in your opinion? Also, can you try a macro shot where you focus on just the subject? I noticed this has been a problem area for most of the Dtek60 pictures I've seen so far.

It came with top of the line specs minus the 2 MP front sensor. I don't think it was over priced, it was over priced because it's a blackberry and no average consumer was willing to pay $800 for a blackberry in 2016. Slap an apple logo on it and it may have been the best selling phone ever.

No, the DTEK60 is based in the Alcatel 950, not the Idol 4S.

They're both the TCL 950. TCL is the parent company of Alcatel. Think of the Idol 4S as the Toyota to DTEK60's Lexus.

Yes, I find the DTEK60 21MP rear camera gets a wider shot than the PRIV 18MP camera. The PRIV 18MP camera is very good, but so far I have found the DTEK60 rear camera is at least as good.

I think the PRIV's camera is only good in the native camera app. I don't think it's that great in other third party apps, like Snapchat or Messenger. The camera software doesn't seem to be the same. Photos I take on Snapchat are kind of dull and blurry, and photos I take on Messenger seem like they have a weird outline around them. Hopefully this camera - app integration is corrected on the Dtek60.

Make sure you are set for whatever modes (e.g. face recognition, etc) you want in the main camera app to apply to other apps that use the camera. That resolved the issue for me -- the selectors are not available in those other apps, but it does appear to honor the previous settings.
