That would explain it. Did they cut it down for performance? the DTEK60 shots are in the 6mb range while Priv are 4mb.

Not sure, but only difference aside from the 18MP of course, is the software. Helps explain why the DxOMark is the same too, I guess.

It seems that the DTEK60, despite 21MP and 8MP cameras, is actually worse than earlier models like the Priv and Passport.

I have had both the Passport SE and the Priv, and they both take great pictures with their rear-facing cameras, although their selfie cams are poor. I was hoping the DTEK60 would be better, but I guess not.

It's sad; sounds like the DTEK60 is an epic fail... I don't understand why BlackBerry doesn't understand that quality cameras are essential, particularly with newer younger consumers. Sounds like the DTEK60 is the nail in the coffin for BlackBerry. Very sad.

I think the majority of people would be convinced it's a better camera because it has more MP. So as long as the masses like it, it wouldn't be a failure, but we'll see...

Must Say that the DTEK50 also sturggle to get a sharp picture, but with the last upgrade's it is better, the only thing that bugs me is red pictures if you use the flash. Lucky my wife using the phone

Bla1ze the software for the camera (DTEK50) is bad,it also looks sometimes with the DTEK 50 there is some kind of filter on the pitures. I think with better software you can improve the camera with they did with the DTEK50 somehow but still it's not perfect.. I also makes red photo's with the flash on sometimes.

I dunno what you're saying. You're complimenting playbookster on his pics (DTEK60) and saying they look awesome and then following up with saying the software is bad. Make up your mind. Are you even talking about the DTEK60? Because I was in my software post.

In anything other than outdoor bright lighting the camera really struggles. Often misses focus and you have to take the same shot 3-4 times to get one that is decent.

Signs of hardware weakness. Poor low light performance is very likely to be uncorrectable. Pixel size and f stop matter a lot here; high megapixels get you a nice detailed picture in good lighting only.

Awesome Photos! I have never seen texture and detail like this on my PRIV. Was that blur effect an accident, or was it intentional? Either way. Great photos!

If you actually take the same pictures I'm sure the 6S has the better picture but the Priv can hold its own I guess if you do not directly compare. I'm not saying the priv isn't capable of capturing great shots but it requires more effort and sometimes, it just doesn't matter how hard one tries when there are limitations.

But a leading, exhaustive, technical review of the cameras gives the Priv, DTEK60, and the iPhone 6s the same rating. How does your anecdotal experience reconcile with that?
