Blackberry does no marketing at all. They don't manufacture. So, why not $399???

If you meant "If there's profit", there's not.

The price should be no more than $499 cdn, $399 would be sweet. If they price it at $599, then it's another poor decision by BB.

$199 CDN would be perfect right?

At first I was against the pricing but in all honesty the pricing isn't that bad.
Here is a comparison I did on BH with the DTEK 60, LG V20, ZTE Axon and Samsung Galaxy S7.
If you look at the specs all these phones are pretty much the same with exception to the IPS display that the LG V20 uses.

    Here is the comparison link.

I am sure it is a fair price in comparison to others. I expected the Dtek60 to be about $200can more than the Dtek50 anyways .
I feel that the Dtek60 has a lot to offer more than some of the higher priced phones.
Still on the fence on getting this phone , because I'm more interested in the pkb phone in February. In the meantime I might get the Dtek50 to feed my addiction.

If DTEK were an app by a random developer, people would be gobbling it up. Being informed about how often FaceBook checks your location is super cool and a kind of creepy. Can it tell you how often an app accesses your photo library?

DTEK has a place, but its place is user education! Its benefits to user security are marginal.

Probably waiting on a response from his friends at the security firm he works at to help him respond as to why it's bloatware.

I agree, seems like a super reasonable price for the hardware and software, which includes hardening...which should be a bigger deal for companies than it is (has BlackBerry secured any new, large, handset contracts with the DTEK50 that we know of?).

That's a good point that I never thought of! Wasn't every BB10 besides the budget leap and Q5 over 500 at the time of release?

Just hope Shopblackberry Canada sells it for that or cheaper. I have spent a lot, bought at regular price and out right for the phones from provider when they came out. Think I'm going to buy directly from BlackBerry or CrackBerry. At least I'll get an accessory with it.

Hey John Chen, make it a $199 phone and make everyone happy here
No it wouldn't because the same cheap people here that think two hundred or even a hundred bucks is a lot of money will insist the phone should be priced at zero dollars without contract LOL

What $199 that's crazy I wouldn't pay that for a phone. I pay that for a spare battery , leather case and a few apps. Come to think of it I pay $199 for my iem cables.
Well at least don't go over $699can with an accessory please. Anyways the others that even compete with BlackBerrys cost between $150-$250 more .
    Just my thoughts.

very interesting: most of early posting were cheapy chaps - think it is over priced... the late posting were thought 60 was reasonably priced and ready to buy... is the data indicated the chaps busy earn money in the early hour so they can afford to buy the phone? the early posting chaps focus their energy to try to knock down the price instead of earning the money? just curious...

I still maintain that it's a good price. Was killing some time yesterday while waiting for my wife to finish work. Checked out my local Telus outlet to look at the Dtek50 again. Saw the galaxy s7 at $960, Moto x play was like $940, some of the higher phones like Sammy s7 edge was over $1000, iphones, etc.

So, full price for the Dtek60 being $699 Canadian is pretty good actually. No complaints here

Especially if the specs are better than the Priv so it really coincides with yearly technology inflation . So we should not really complain. If anything the people that buy the other phones should be complaining cause they are paying to much.
I am glad someone brought this discussion up , cause it gives us all a chance to sit back and think about things from a different perspective.
    Thanks CrackBerry...
