I will purchase direct. The battery is my main concern. But it needs time to settle as any phone does. Will be very hard to better my passport in that regard.

Fewer things to break or go bad considering BB poor QC.
Like others have said in the forums and from BlackBerry themselves that the DTEK60 will last approximately 7% longer because the snapdragon 820 is a lot more efficient and uses 30% less power than the snapdragon found in the Priv and Couple that with BlackBerry's Optimization of the software and tweaking to use less power on the software side of things.
We will have to wait and see if this statement holds true when people start posting here in the forums, telling us how the batter actually fairs. Time will tell.

Yes, the OG Passport and current iPhones are good examples of this. Lightly curved or beveled glass at the edges to facilitate gestures and improve appearance and handling.
I love the glass edge on my Passport. It's so much nicer than the sharp edge on the SE model imo.

Is this an Android issue? My Passport regularly lasts through the next morning (24+6 hours off the charger).
My guess would be that the 820 is a more energy efficient processor.

That battery life won't cut it. Be prepared to charge by 4 pm daily.

It's more than a guess, Qualcom claims up to 30% more efficient ;)
Also Blackberry should remember to include the battery saving mode from BB10 and to help with mediate screen brightness etc...
And Bedside mode.

And maybe lift to wake.

Its pretty much the same screen size. Less PPI than the priv too. Also the priv powers a Backlit touch sensitive physical keyboard. The 820 Soc is also more power efficient.

It's only less dpi because the screen is 0.1" bigger on the DTEK60.
October 17: Staples has taken down the page with the DTEK60 listing. It is no longer available. Likely got fed up waiting for BlackBerry to make an "official" release statement.

Guys, battery life is so important.
3000 mah on a 820 isn't going to cut it, you going to get say 14 hours usage out of it medium and about 5 hours heavy usage.
That qhd panel will drain it.
This device needed atleast a 3450 mAh or 3600 mAh. Shocked blackberry went smaller on the size, they have never been stingy when it comes to battery.

24hrs mixed use compared to 22.5hrs for Priv and 17hrs for DTEK50.
Optimization is everything. See the iphone Plus models running with under 3k mAh and easily keeping up with android flagships. i know differnt OS but android 7.0 with doze on the go should make 3000 mAh get easy 5+ hr SOT. Its a reference design, only so much they can do. i too would have hoped for 3.5 atleast but some socery is giving it more use time than priv.
the dtek has a more battery efficient processor.
Does camera use OIS?
Thanks
No.
curved screen on priv is useless. I have since removed the productivity tab. barely used it.
Curved screen seems to be a form that follows the "slider" function and not much more other than a little more screen real estate. As for the Hub, I use it when l see that l have emails from multiple accounts.
I agree. I really liked the priv but didn't like the keyboard on it and always said I wish they made it without the keyboard and figured if they did that would leave room for a bigger battery. Only other thing I really wish they would do is go back to removable batteries. We just switched our company over to LG G5's and that was probably the main selling feature for us. NO phone truly lasts a day, quick charging is a big help though.
I'd switch back if the DTEK60 had of had a removable battery.
This is my fear - battery is key for my next phone. I'm not convinced the battery will be ok for 24 hours as BlackBerry claims. I am doubtful it will last 12.
Thinner than the 50. Not by much but that's actually surprising.
