My phone doesn't allow me to store to the Dropbox folder as an option but does with Google drive. Is there settings I'm missing or is this an example of Google taking over?

I would recommend you install a file manager like solid Explorer if you have not already. From. There you can easily permission Dropbox, one drive and Drive.

I have asus file manager and have given it permission but I don't think that is it. Dropbox itself displays files in similar way but to open a google doc on phone it only gives me google drive or device storage.

Dropbox has to "export to" the file; it's how Dropbox the app works.....

Direct "open from" doesn't work because Dropbox doesn't hook as a filesystem and thus has no mount point.

I loved the fact that my Dropbox was basically part of my phone's storage on BB10 *smirk*

That's because "filesystems" on QNX are provided by user processes.

Oh I didn't know that! How do I add Google Drive and Dropbox to SE? Can't find the option anywhere

Edit: found it! Didn't know it had that feature at all. Brilliant

The other really brilliant feature of SE is the ability to get two active windows when in landscape mode. Now you can drag and drop files to move/copy. Freaking brilliant.

    wow didn't know that. thanks!
one less brilliant feature I discovered... I think it's related to me haveing my SD card as adoptable storage... when marking a folder as hidden it erased ALL of it's contents. I was in contact with them, and they confirmed it was wiped so avoid hidden folders! otherwise solid app
