I am starting to think that DTEK60 was not only a "test model", but a decent "trojan horse" created in order to collect information of people that decided to try it and/or information about vulnerabilities of BlackBerry Android OS. The value for the money was really good, so people just bought it right away. I can imagine the following steps:

1. TCL or a group of people in it intentionally pushed hardware-affecting updates to the global network;
2. factory-reset and cleanup might "just a bit failed to work as expected" - compared to the much bigger issues this is a piece of cake;
3. the returned devices were examined for the content and phone numbers - a piece of information with a STRONG interest.

As there was a "transfer of resposibilty" from BlackBerry to TCL in progress, this should have covered almost everything, especially in terms of information security where ALMOST EVERYONE is completely naive.

Obviously, there is too few evidence now, but an informed insider could have benefited a lot from exploiting the situtation as I outlined.

Let's have a dicussion, if CB will ever let it happen here in full.

Never had to return mine, I've had it since day one. The only thing I'm not happy about is that they never updated the OS. I would like an OS update not just security updates.

I returned mine for a battery swap.... wiped.

Got it back.... wiped.

My DTEK60's battery failed. Sent it in for repair twice and they did nothing. now taking legal action.
