No. Since WIND is still pre-LTE, there are no network compatibility issues. Just make sure you get the North American model, because the global one doesn't have the AWS UMTS band.

In fact, if you wait, wind is going to be carrying the dtek. Not sure when they will release it, but it's on their website.

How close to BB's price does Wind price their phones?

Usually wind is pretty good for pricing. There have been some outliers, but they price it around the same as msrp. The Priv is still 899, but may go down soon.

So I expect the 430 (420?) Price as shop BB.

Technically the MSRP inflation serves two purposes, as a financing charge for the loan they give you to go on a tab contract, and to discourage you from buying outright from them.

Wind doesn't give a ****. They prefer you buy phones outright or bring your own.

Are their service rates so low then that they don't have to worry about churn?

After the collapse of Public Mobile (purchased by Telus), and Mobilicity (purchased by Rogers), they are the last newcomer still standing with relatively low rates, but not for long. They got bought out by Shaw and might very well become the Big 4.

You probably didn't hear about them because they were so limited in coverage. Initially just they just carried ***tty CDMA 1x flip phones and didn't offer data. They were amongst the original AWS carriers back in 2010.

Although, they're trying a new strategy with public mobile.

Discounted rates, but you pay 3 months at a time. It's interesting, I've considered moving over, since they're just using the Telus network now.

But yes, wind is a "budget" or "discount" carrier. It's a long story, but they have lower rates for a reason.

I recently left wind, but it wasn't a service/price issue. It was a customer service issue.

I bought my dtek from Wind, they gave me 100$ off the phone in place of a two year agreement.. ive already been a customer of theirs for over two years

if I want to leave I just pay off the remainder of the windTab, which 4.17$ comes off it each month for 24months

my monthly bill did not change from before I got my dtek

so far signal has been better with my dtek then my passport SE

Wind (now branded as Freedom) launched their LTE, but only on aws-3 (band 66) in Toronto and Vancouver

This is the band they are going to use everywhere they have the spectrum (band 4 will be Eastern Ontario....so Ottawa, Kingston, etc)

As this phone does not have the required LTE chipset, it will not work initially on LTE they might refarm some of their existing HSPA+ spectrum for LTE in major markets, but since they just used the majority for the 3G upgrades, I doubt it for a while
