I didn't receive the July update on my unlocked Dtek50, where is the August Update? It's already mid August.

The August update will include the July update so no worries there. None of us (don't think) have the August update yet.

June and July came within a week of each other. Dated July 5.
I had to do a manual update check.
You should do that weekly anyway.

They should have thought of that before releasing the blog posts gloating about matching/exceeding Pixel/Nexus updates.

Their last blog post about being so up to date is from this April, which is conveniently before the update situation really hit the fan.

In other words, the writing is on the wall...

BB unable to provide the promised security update schedule now, that's before they 'launch all these new models' everyone keeps on about....

Really bodes well for the future then!!

Personally, I just don't think the updates are forthcoming any time soon. Of he last two, one was well over a month late, the second caused more problems because it was not properly tested!!

(12 builds/branches for keyone!!!! Basically, BB/TCL are 'supporting' Priv, 2 Dteks, and keyone, that's 4!!!)

If one checks what's the "latest" update for the KEYone they get about a dozen different hits depending on regional variants, but this also extends to differences within regional variants: there are five different "latest" OS releases for the BBB100-1 (AAN355, AAM625, AAM481, AAN358, AAN057), four for the BBB100-2 (AAM481, AAL682, AAN358, AAK199), two for the BBB100-3 (AAL093, AAM286), one for the BBB100-4/5 (AAM999), one for the BBB100-6 (AAN358) and one for the BBB100-7 (AAM693); summing it up and removing duplicate builds, there are 11 builds floating around. Of course, build AAN596 has been spotted at regulatory agencies, which means that's coming soon, so make it 12. All of which are "latest".

To compare, at the moment there are about four (usually three) Priv builds in the wild (AT&T, Verizon/South Korea, T-Mobile/slower carriers, beta/faster carriers), and only one DTEK50/DTEK60 build each.

Thank you- why can't they get the DTEK50 build right? July patch will not install on my DTEK50. I have performed a hard reboot and yet nothing. Says "rebooting in 9 seconds, counts down and the goes back to "install". Did BlackBerry stop the July patch from updating due to the problems others were having??

    So who's fault is that??
BB's surely. If it is prepared to put out that many 'different' variations of software, then it should at least make sure it has the means to 'service' them.
All the 'paying customer' wants, is what they were promised when they bought the phone, ie: sucurity updates faster than any other provider...WEEKS before they said..
Yet, month after month, we are left waiting for the 'securest android' (HA, HA, HA, !!) to 'catch up' on their 'schedule' only to find the updates are in most cases, 'useless' causing more problems than they were supposed to fix!!
If BB do not have sufficient resources to fullfill their obligations, then at least have the decency to SAY SO, rather than hide behind a wall of total silence, hoping the customer will be ignorant of what is going on...
Month after month, same old problem, piecemeal updates, poor distribution, and no information....
5th month is the 'usual' release date, (although this has never been the case realistically, here in the REAL world) yet, today, 13th August, we have not even had the 'false announcement'!!
Whether we like it or not, BB are no longer interested in these phones, technically, Priv & both Dteks might as well not exist to them....
If we get anything at all, it will be late, and not work correctly, and the schedule for them will slip further and further away.....

If it fails to install it's probably not magically work. Report it so they can fix it. Although front line will probably wiped check for updates.

How is THAT an acceptable excuse for an outfit that fancies themselves capable of competing in software?

Answer = They are NOT capable of winning in software. That prediction is coming true well before even I would have predicted.

Device software is a tertiary priority for BlackBerry at best.

    Agreed that is johnny's thinking.

And such thinking will lead (is leading) to the final chapter...soon...

There's no real money in hardware for BB with there limited resources so they walked away 4-7 years too late. They should have never developed BB10 and stayed with BBOS as long as they could milk BIS revenue.

As far phone software, this seems to be a very low priority for BB unless it's paid for by licensees. If the licensees are unhappy, they can drop license, or pay more for to BB for whatever level of service it desires.

TCL didn't license the brand to restore BB to some former glory. Just look how dedicated they were to Palm brand. This is merely attempt to get in closer with carriers primarily in the USA. They don't care about PRIV or DTEK and most likely are looking towards a VKB rollout with better carrier partnerships.

Try a reboot and then check again. There is a key combo you can try from dial pad too but I never remember it. So I just reboot.
