I just ordered my DTEK50 from BlackBerry. Now I need to find a carrier in US that I can use it on that is reliable. Any suggestions? I am used to the strong network of Verizon.

AT&T and TMobile are really the only compatible GSM Carriers that will fully work with the DTEK50. (or a few 2nd Tier Carriers that use their networks)

    Verizon is a CDMA network.

Any suggestions for 2nd tier carriers that are reliable? I found Mint Sim but have not been able to find any reviews on their service. Price is very reasonable with them.

I recommend you try T-Mobile. You can go pre-paid for a month and test the network.

The thing about cell networks is that they're constantly changing, and T-Mo's network has improved immensely over the last couple of years due to their acquisition of 700MHz spectrum from Verizon, and because they've been re-farming their networks away from legacy GSM support to LTE. Thus, while it USED to be true that their coverage was lousy outside metro areas, that's less and less true - and they are still the most economical carrier.

Of course, you may live or work in an area they don't cover well (true of all carriers), so it's worth doing a one-month test before you make your final decision.
