Lol we already went over this a few times. It's only at Samsung stores and there aren't many in Canada. You are also assuming max trade in value. You would maybe get that with a mint s6. With a bb classic you would be lucky to get 20$ lol

And when did you have a 60? You said you had a 50 and returned it. So wierd
The Q10 gets $30 on top of the automatic $200 trade in value.

So trading in a Q10 gets you $230 off! Amazing deal for sure. Other phones it might not make sense because you can just sell it for more.

I never owned the 60, I said I handled it in new york at the BlackBerry shop when I was there.

The S7 is also $599 at Costco - readily available throughout Canada.

Have any DTEK50 owners had the December update? I believe some have. If so, then what I do not understand is why some do and others do not.
I received a December update in the middle of December - that is not the December update however. It is the November one. They're a month behind.

For those who have not received even that one, it could be their phone is locked to a carrier.

Here's a comparison of the dtek50 and g4 play. G4 play has a much much lower specs

    http://m.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?i...&idPhone2=8104

Notice the 8gbrom and 1gbram among many other things
The G4 (not the Play version) us nearly identical though. Only £120 cheaper.

    Not quite...
Moto G4 Plus (5.5" - same resolution, less PPI) comes in 16 Gb with 2Gb RAM and 32 Gb with 3Gb RAM...if you compare DTEK to the latter, you get almost the same price. Storage comparison is useless as you can always expand it.

Yeah, I did say nearly. Even with less ram it's still super snappy and comparably fast.

But with the G4 you get a bigger battery, better screen (to my eyes), and most importantly, faster security updates! And £120 in your back pocket.

e2a. Just my opinion...I love my DTEK 50, but having used the cheaper MOTO G4, I'd have no hesitation in going for similar in the future - just as capable, just as well built (if not better), better battery, cheaper, and faster security updates (which makes BlackBerry's promises a joke).

Pardon if I'm way out in left field on this, but if you have a Rogers locked DTEK50, can you have it unlocked and download and install the autoloader for the non-Rogers phone from Blackberry? (Reload BlackBerry powered by Android smartphone - Canada).

I don't think it needs to be unlocked first; the software is the same for any DTEK50.

So there should be nothing preventing me from installing the non-Rogers/Fido autoloader?

Not really, no. There are no DTEK50 variants that require special software (unlike the Priv).

Thanks thurask. I went ahead and reinstalled the bog standard build version on my Rogers phone and all is well. On the November patch vs being previously on the October one.

Also on the November update here, bought from shop BlackBerry on o2 UK. I think it's time to take to twitter. BlackBerry will get a push in the right direction if discontent is more public.

Just got the December patch this morning without any removing of sims. My understanding is that blackberry are responsible for the security updates if you bought the phone direct from them, no?

Mine is from B&H and still gets from BKB directly.
Too many rumors out there .
Yesterday's update said (before DL) it is 1685 MB.
Whole thing took about 1/2 hr to complete on AC wifi, plugged into power.
Many apps were grayed out and said "not available" afterwards.
Another 15-20 minutes later they were back and working.

The December update I got wasn't as big as that, 40 or so mb. I know it did appear to boot twice before installing.

Probably something to that. I bet it's because of Nougat. Probably pooling resources to push it out faster
