He had the phone in the outside pouch of his school bag. He put the bag in a locker during gym class and squeezed the door shut. It was a very tight fit. When he pulled the phone out later the screen was cracked vertically from top to bottom and inoperable.

Groannn... Had bought the phone directly from BlackBerry in December so got in touch with customer service and was eventually sent a UPS waybill (I live close to Toronto) and got it shipped to the authorised repair centre in Mississauga.

So, the phone was broken on March 21, I got it shipped out on March 23 and it came back to me on April 5.

Overall, the customer service was good, but not swift. I did have to follow up a couple of times. BlackBerry kept in touch with me for the whole process via email, so that was a plus.

I was prepared to pay for the repair, but to date there was no mention of a cost to repair the phone... If I get an invoice, I will update this thread.

That was pretty good CS imo. Kudos to BlackBerry. I had to send in my old Z10 in for repair once (headphone jack) and it took almost 3 weeks and I live in the Kitchener Waterloo area.

My "case" is officially closed according to the last email I received from BlackBerry. Not sure why this came in at no cost. Had the phone just over three months. Maybe, this was some kind of "goodwill" program. Maybe we were close enough to 90 days. Not complaining... Either is my son.
