Just got a notification on my DTEK50 saying that there is a system update available. 120MB, looks like maybe the August security patch.

Once you get it, could you please check if Blackberry added "picture password" option and WiFi Calling(if you have T-Mobile).

Even a few bytes in an app requires the entire file to be replaced.

Interesting, just installed and restarted but it's still listing my Android security patch level as being July 5, 2016?

Not sure what this fixes over the launch AAF959 OS, but August should still be soon.

Thanks. I've had the DTEK50 for three days and I feel like there have been fifty updates already, lol. I'm not complaining mind you!

Same for mine (STH100-1 from shop.blackberry.ca on Telus in Metro vancouver), 120 MB, still on July 5th update. This is the second update. First was after first boot, but unlike those, my phone is now updating a bunch of Google apps along with BlackBerry apps edited: 29 total, last was Android System webView.

And I've had it since Friday and not a single update. Frustrating.

Why don't you use the existing app picture password from playstore? It's not from blackberry but has the same function.

    Blackberry says, "Affected Products
BlackBerry powered by Android smartphones running builds earlier than AAG111."

Mine updated to AAF959 when I first got it. Now it still shows no update. THAT is too SCAREY since it has to do with Quadrooter!!

They say those "...bought through shopblackberry.com...." get it first. "Through carriers..." later.

SO what about through B&H and Amazon? I would think those count as through Blackberry, huh? There are no carriers in the U.S. selling it.

The new, ever secure BKB? WTH?

You don't have to worry about this anyway. Google Play Services scans for this when you install an app. Also, BlackBerry Integrity Detection would alert you of compromise, and Hardware Root of Trust will not allow a persistent root.

It's really not any worse than the other exploits of Android which are detected monthly. This one just got a lot of press time as its on every android out there. Just be glad not on a Samsung or Alcatel or HTC or something that will probably never see this (or other) security issue patched.
