That's not what has been "indicated" via the rumors and leaks... suppose to be a little better device.

The rumored SOC for the Mercury is Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 and the PRIV has Qualcomm Snapdragon 808. Compared to each other the 625 has better multiple core performance(8 cores vs 6 for the 808) and the 808 has better single core performance. In day to day use the PRIV will still be faster as most apps aren't multi-core optimized: your email, social media apps etc. For gaming the Mercury should feel a bit smoother and run cooler.

BlackBerry would alienate the Priv users if they released a $400 phone with a better chipset than their $700 Flagship phone.. But the problem is that the 808 is an old Chipset that was released on April/2014.. It was a serious mistake to include it and not wait for the SD820.. But then again they had to release the phone earlier on to try and reach profitability.

Ment's post was a rather good description of what you should expect.. The rumored 625 (Released Feb/16) after all is a mid-end chipset while the 808 is a high-end.. but the old chipset element might give a little edge to the 625 Vs the 808 in certain areas but not in the overall, my inexperienced opinion anyway

If they release the highly rumored Argon, which is supposed to be a high-range phone, then for sure it will beat the Priv.. Specially because it won't have a PKB so a less price tag..
