I dunno when the choice was made to go with DTEK50 as the name but they had everything ready for it to be called Neon with Hamburg being the codename.

After seeing the LG Neon years ago, I feel they've made the right choice with DTEK50.
Where did you see that?
The LG Neon is an old device, it came out in 2008 or 2009. I remember seeing it in the wild. It had a pretty flimsy build quality and kind of ruined the neon name because I always think back to that device when I hear the name neon.
Yes they made the correct choice. But they could have chose another one. https://cnet1.cbsistatic.com/hub/i/r...1333-OVR-1.jpg
Seems they took their time releasing the phone. The sticker on my package said built date was 2/2016

If Neon and DTEK50 were the only two names available in the world then I'd agree with you.
So now do u think ur knowledge about releasing next 2 pkb phones can also be wrong and changed in the end?

DTEK50 isn't a bad name. I'm not sure why it gets so much flack.
Much better than Neon.

I actually think the DTEK name is excellent for branding. The numbers can change, but it always points out what the device is all about.

Dtek grown on me and I guess on majorty of people much much faster than priv

Dtek50 works perfectly as a name for me, dtek as in detec(t) any nefarious shenanigans on the phone. Perfect, 50 being a random starter number prefix followed by a 100 then a 150 etc I don't see why that's any less legitimate than anyone else's names, Iphone, wow how original ;-)

Software probably wasn't ready for prime time.

Better than PRIV!!
Anything is better than Priv. Stupid name.

That was my first phone! And everything you heard about the build quality was true, it was horrible

DTEK is a great name.
I for one am happy they didn't call it the Neon.

Yes, or the Plymouth Neon that is now the PT Cruiser.
Why not just the Blackberry DTEK? I don't see the point in the 50 being in the name. For branding purposes this could be the original model instead of slapping a 50 on it for no apparent reason. Future models could have a number attached to it, but it just seems strange to name it DTEK50. I'm not in marketing though, so whatever I guess.
Hello Everyone,
I don't know--after PRIV, DTEK50 feels pretty good to me.

sorry getting off topic a bit :)
Uh, the Neon is not the PT Cruiser... Unless they had different names where we are, those two are two different vehicles. The Neon was a compact sedan and the PT Cruiser is a.. I have no idea what to call it, a weird hatch-back-like POS?

The PT Cruiser used a modified Neon platform. Sold a lot but a tremendously unsafe car.
