DTEK50 STH100-1 (ShopBB), TMobile USA, 5-Jan-2018, AAU076. Had to uninstall GP Services updates, but did NOT have to deal with Device Admins.
Just got the January 5th update for my DTEK50, Build AAU076. However, the verification issue from earlier updates is still not yet fully resolved by BlackBerry. Also, the support link on the update screen doesn't work so unless one is skilled enough, the workaround to disable Google Play Services and deactivate Find My Device in Device Administration, can be a challenge. Then once the update is installed Google Play Services must be updated and Find My Device reactivated.
Hoops for an Android security update. Inexcusable. I'll check my DTEK50.
The White Knight-BlackBerry Passport
This will likely never be fixed.
The upgrade framework for the Priv and DTEKs is based on an old system.
With the Priv done, and the DTEKs only months away from EOL, I don't see them revamping the whole infrastructure.
It is present on my son's shop BlackBerry unlocked device here in California. I'll have to do the run around to get it updated. What a "software" company BlackBerry has become when a security update necessitates what is needed. Their inability becomes a users responsibility.
haven't had an update available for mine since November in UK.
Do we need uninstall update of Google play service to see update?

Not to see it. Just to install it
Got mine this morning. Unlocked staples dtek50 on Telus in Waterloo ON
I've just got the update in UK, shop BlackBerry on o2. I thought I already had the Jan patch but obviously it was the Dec one I must have left until jan hoping they would fix it.
Device still going strong though, I've never had to wipe this device since I got it not long after release. Only real issue I have is the Facebook app but that is the app itself which is rubbish.
Smart Lock settings were turned off following AAU76 January update on both my DTEK50's requiring resetting.
On Body Detection was turned off and Trusted Places had to be reset, because my trusted place had been deleted.
Just got the January update on my wife's D50 - unlocked from shopblackberry.com. I'm still on the December update on my black limited edition K1.
still nothing on VodafoneUK
Did the "two step" process and installed the update on my son's DTEK50 last night. No issues so far
I still have November patch and I have factory unlocked USA dtek50.
Have you tried uninstalling the updates of the Google Play Services? The update did not show for me in December before completing this step and searching for updates afterwards

I didn't know Google play affects my monthly security patch. I'll check later tonight since I am using PRIV right now.
I just received a Carrier Services update. Anyone else?
Always nothing in France. Just have November 2017 update

I received the update notification yesterday. I had to come back to the CB forums to research what trick needed to be performed to apply the update. I'm reading that it's the Google Play services app that needs to have the updates installed. But, when I try to do that, I get an error message that says, "Can't uninstall because this package is an active device administrator." Is there a step I'm missing somewhere to accomplish the update process?
Is Google play service and play store two different things? I can't find Google play service to delete.
