The management needs to hear this. BlackBerry can partner with HMD Oy (successor of Nokia's mobile patents) and Foxconn to develop BlackBerry-based devices with a Nokia logo to create an all win situation.
Best thing I read is that BlackBerry should transfer all its IP to the newly formed Nokia's company (HDM).
BlackBerry lost the race of hardware. It is all over now.
Much better to focus on what left now. They at least works with Nokia to keep the PK phones for enterprise, like Nokia Passport 2, Nokia Q50, or call it E-Series even!
Nokia is coming back and the world seems extremely excited to that.
Can someone give me the Cole's notes of this post, I just have time to dive into this
... (kind of a global answer here)
Alcatel-Lucent S.A. (French pronunciation: [alkatɛl lysɛnt]) was a French global telecommunications equipment company, headquartered in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. As of January 2016, the company is controlled by Nokia.[3]

This link points out the brand owner: TCL, a HK based company.
In the end this is not surprising at all if this happens and this would go hand in hand with what Chen has been saying. This would relegate BB to a software company. They wouldn't be making hardware and they wouldn't have their own OS. On the device front they would be providing their modified version of Android with a Blackberry name slapped on the device.
I read that Nokia's brand was worth 3 billion and BlackBerry's only 400 million. Perhaps under the partnership BlackBerry could concentrate on Enterprise, security and PKB. Nokia on feature phones and all touch.

If Nokia built a device with Blackberry's Android on it that would be a dream phone.
Completely. They build good stuff. Hey, maybe that's why Chen was smirking in that last interview.
MS sold the previous Nokia devices department (together with license on function mobiles) to Foxconn recently. It's said Nokia will be working with Foxconn on manufacturing and marketing through HMD Oy.
It still makes sense for HMD and BlackBerry and Alcatel to form some sort of alliance just to get bigger.
Update the N950 to latest guts and put BlackBerry Android N on it. Unlock the bootloader and sell it exclusively on XDA.
So no fingerprint scanner? I hope they consider to add it in.
I know many people will say this is a gimmick and security threat. But that will be the same old mentality BlackBerry had towards touch screens.
If the mass already accepts and desires as a defacto feature set by almost all flagship smartphones, as a smartphone provider or technology leader you have to embrace the trend or you are just not helping yourself.

HMD is actually a start up company created by Nokia. I'm almost sure it is an unpublished Nokia's subsidiary, but I don't know why Nokia didn't made the new handset division as a part of the actual company. So basically, Microsoft gave back the feature phones to Nokia (HMD). Microsoft didn't acquire any patents with the acquisition of Nokia's devices and services, and all phones related IP is still owned by Nokia.
Nokia's current cash reserve is $13 billion. I really do hope they acquire BlackBerry for $4 billion. Going to a western and reliable company is much better than other terrible options.
Wait, how is a touchscreen a security threat??
If they put in a fingerprint scanner, as long as it's not required and there are options to use the phone and lock/unlock the phone without it and there's a way to physically turn off the hardware side of it, then I'm ok with it.

That would be a perfect fit and a dream. It won't happen thought because of chens vision, but still. I like where this thread evolved to.

FTFY.
Yikes, if it happens to be true I hope they do way better quality control, the Idol 3 screen is apparently junk.
so BB will become a line/brand as Droid is for Verizon?
Wrong Alcatel. Try This link.
And make 10s of dollars!

really good performance.
in my book - it is exactly same Android phone as others. as long as specs are comparable - it is same phone. Same OS, same operation, etc. even really comparable performance. I even get weekly OS updates (manually) or OTA monthly!
so then, here come the man question: why would you pay premium price for the logo?
That is all very good but very few major carriers support the cheap Chinese brands. BlackBerry needs to supply phones that carriers will promote .
All phones supporting fingerprint scanner support to disable it and use passcode instead.
