I am hoping someone can provide me with a straight up answer or solution to my dilemma.

I have been watching and considering the DTEK50 since it came out. I am currently still with a Z10, but have been having problems as of late, and realized it is finally time to move to Android. Size is a big thing for me, so PRIV or DTEK60 is out. One major sticking point I just discovered, however, is that apparently the DTEK50 does not have any form of video out. I use HDMI from my Z10 all the time, and assumed Slimport was now the defacto standard in mobile phones, and all micro-USB ports were compatible. Not so, it has been revealed.

Now, is there any way to get video onto a TV from the DTEK50, WITHOUT USING WIFI (I don't want to hear "Chromecast", as that is all that is said about any other question online about this). The reason I use the video out so much, is we don't have internet at the cabin, so I just load up my phone and watch from there.
I was all set to finally order this phone (much to the delight of my wife, who hates my Z10), but this is truly a dealbreaker.
Someone please help, keep a lifelong BB user on board!

    Thanks

There's no technical way to do it without Chromecast.

Go for the DTEK60. It's really not that much bigger than the DTEK50.

Keep the Z10 around as a dedicated video player and get the DTEK to use as a phone.

You can get a chromecast puck for less than 25 and it is more versatile. C'est la Vie. Once you use it then you will love it like hdmi on the z10 was not a thing back then but you loved it.

w/o wifi you are limited. Keep using your Z10 or get a cheap Kodi box w/ remote and load an SD card with your files.

Screen casting to my TV through an Amazon Fire Stick works well for me. However, live streaming and casting for one hour use 40% battery on the DTEK 50 and the CPU temperature gets up to 85°C. I usually have the phone plugged in and leave it on an ice pack. Just screen casting uses about half as much battery and the CPU temperature is around 60°C.

No it doesn't. It was quite uncommon for phone to have hdmi output as the Z10/30. Doesn't look like anyone will bring it back as everything is about going over the air.

No doubt. I actually can't think of any other phones that had an actual HDMI out port.

My old Motorola RAZR has a HDMI out port. Come to think of it, it isn't that much older than the Z30 and even it is on KitKat.
